I don’t subscribe so no idea what the emails sent out said :man_shrugging:. Just going off of what was posted in this thread.

I love your product and recommend it to everyone who rides. Id be willing to pay an extra $5-6 just to make sure yall are a healthy business making good profit and keep me training.

My product development request:

Figure out how to incorporate outdoor rides into progression levels. Its very difficult to do an outdoor ride that matches a workout.

Add some more outdoor training or racing guidance / metrics based on the AI FTP measurements

Add some explanation on why modifications to the training plan are being recommended. Id be curious to know why those happen.

Yeah with another price increase, I’m out. TrainerRoad needs to bring feature parity to running. I feel like they’ve been talking about it the entire time I’ve been doing triathlon, about 7 years now. Progress is way too slow.

I just recently bought a year, so if there’s not some major progress in running, I won’t renew.

And I agree that outdoor rides really need to factor into progression. I feel like this shouldn’t be too hard of a thing to approximate.

I’m not a current subscriber either, so also didn’t get the email, but this section (from post #1) seems to me to imply that even Legacy will see a $2 increase. I could be wrong though. Not sure if anyone can clarify?

Clarification would be appreciated but how I am interpreting it is there are 3 groups.

Non legacy get the increase as per usual.

Full legacy stays the same price.

Legacy that opted in to an increase but with a 15% discount would have an increase as shown in your screenshot.

Absolutely could be the case. Hopefully someone who got the email will chime in and clarify.

I only really use TR in the winter months as I ride outside in the summer without using TR workouts. TR’s good, even for a 59-year-old, not-very-good cyclist who is just trying to stay fit and enjoys being out on his bike. But it’s more/as expensive as other platforms and with the price increase, I’ll have to revisit whether those platforms are better value or not. I suspect I’ll stay with TR but don’t really know tbh.

Have been out with injury and life stress recently, but just got the email.
this thread is TLDR
Does that mean that TR is ignoring the granfather price rates that they use to do and I should have paused my account back in Jan and saved that money?

$22 * 12 = $264 comparing that to 210 just doesn’t feel like a massive savings. 2 months missed in training and you have pretty much reaped the savings through monthly plans

***EDIT 15 Min after Post - I would like to state that I have always found value in TR and will be staying on it was just more of a shock to see the email about the discount, and TR did all they could to communicate this to the best of their ability

Firstly, thanks for opting in to pay the higher price last year. We are grateful that you find the value of TrainerRoad to be worth it.

We will honour that, and work to constantly improve the app so that we can do the best by you in making you a faster cyclist.

In the same way you have @dreamsong63, we hope that regardless of whether people chose to opt in or out of their legacy pricing last year, that they consider the value of TrainerRoad to be worth it and that today’s increase is still within their means.

To clarify:

  • If you are currently on $19.95/ month or $189/ year your price will be increasing to $21.99 or $209.99, respectively.
  • If you opted for 15% off the current price your price will increase, but still be 15% off.
  • If you elected to stay on legacy last year, your price will not change.

Thanks for the clarity Sarah!

Hi, if you chose to be on the legacy price (like $99), then you will stay on that price.

For those who chose 15% discount, they will continue to get 15% discount on the price of TrainerRoad.

And for everyone who did 15%, went with the current price, long time legacy athletes, and even new athletes; we really really appreciate it.

Your support is what allows us to continue to build new features and move the whole space forward.

Zwift and Wahoo Systm both essentially do the “2 months free” via their Annual pricing as well. So at least two similar apps take the same approach for the yearly discount (right, wrong or otherwise).

Zwift has an annual payment option now? That must be new in the last 6-8 months when I canceled my sub with them because value at TR is much better

Yes, Zwift’s annual discount option showed up late November 2023.

The big change you’ll see soon is an updated Adaptive Training that goes like this:

All training (including all activities and sport types, indoor/outdoor, internal WLV2, and other metrics) is used for a new ML model to predict performance and choose workouts for you.

So if the ML predicts you’re not good at a certain type of workout, or you’re getting tired, it will change the target workout and level for you.

For me right now with my limited training, it predicts I’m freshest after 3 days of rest.

We have one more big data component to add to this and then we will go to early access.

So in effect WLV2 will be used to update AT, but the scores won’t be publicly shown.

I suggest updated the OP at the top, with this official info so we can point to that when this question comes up again. That or add a link in that OP to your or Nate’s post as an alternate fast route to the info.

I got email, was I not legacy anymore?

I understand how missing this thread last week could lead you to feel caught off-guard by today’s price increase. It’s a long thread to catch up on so feel free to shoot me a DM if you have any specific questions.

We really appreciate that. Your support helps us improve in the ways Nate has outlined, and with more to come in the future.
