don’t forget the fees - $774 is just the race fee. Its like $860 ish after the registration fee and one day license
Registration fee is 10% - ouuuucchhh that is ridiculous for an online registration platform
Ah, USAT and Active member. (I race a fair amount) So 810ish charged to my card.
Ironman Canada’s current pricing (still have to add the ridiculous Active fees and some GST/PST of course):
What’s the 3-2-1 approach? Pardon my ignorance…
Check out the BarryP running plan……it is a 3/2/1 running plan.

Check out the link @Power13 posted. But in general it’s using the idea of run easy and run often (6 days a week) to get faster. It’s like a polarized 80/20 plan, except it’s more like 100/0
I jest as there is some speedwork prescribed eventually but it’s absolutely minuscule. However it got me to be the fastest I’ve been in my life after a decade of traditional speedwork training. If you are hitting a plateau and need to switch it up or are an absolute beginner it’s very viable strategy.
I personally thought it meshed well with TR since there is a lot of intensity built into the bike programs and I’d be touching those systems on the relatively easy on the body bike. And knock on wood I’ve been injury free for two whole years.
Yep - I decided to go for the IM branded 70.3, but non-branded Full (both UK)
Welcome @AMULLIN have you got any races lined up?
And don’t forget travel costs could be a thing if you don’t live by an event.
Of course, but don’t forget the most expensive part of the sport: food.
Assume you train an average of 12 hours a week, and burn 800 calories per hour. That’s 500,000 calories a year you burn. That’s 5,000 bananas. At $0.40 a banana that’s $2,000 a year!
If you use gels or other types of nutrition regularly, that’s going to add up even faster. If you replace your crap fast food meals with healthy nutritious meals, that’s going to add up even faster! Half a million calories of high quality food isn’t cheap.
220 dozen of Krispy Kreme Glazed Donuts… I would do it!
4 dozen a week
win!
I did some googling, that’s $1,760 worth of donuts a year. I feel sick just thinking about that, lol.
But can you argue… more delicious than $2000 worth of bananas?
Are these yellow or green bananas?
$200 worth of green bananas, $600 worth of yellow bananas, $200 worth of spotted bananas, and $880 worth of donuts.
Costco bananas to keep the wallet happy. And those $5 chickens too, I bring one home, strip it down, dice most, and leave two pieces for a mid-week dinner.
Get the Kirkland Tortilla soup…add some of that chicken to boost it up a bit and then serve over rice.
Delicious and cheap.
Also, their Street Taco kits are very good too…$15 and you can feed a family of 4.
Good to know the Cosco tricks!
they are FINALLY open one near where I live! little more than a mile away!
already got my card and everything!
