Tarmac SL7 Release date

What was your previous bike?

I was riding a vitus razor which is the own brand bike of Chain Reaction Cycles / Wiggle. The bike was amazing for the money but it weighs 10.5kg and was running a clunky Claris 2x8 groupset so I was expecting this to be a substantial step up.

My old bike was still capable of going fast on the flats but I expect this to be a step up.

Placebo watts!!!

Seriously, congratulations. A fast bike does have a way of making you live up to the bike’s potential.

I made 140 km today and yes, that bike is really fast! Reaction for putting power to pedals is great. I was ridden with similar power like by my previous bike and avg speed is definitely higher. I know, the wind and the other things but I see is faster and I will believe in that! :joy:
My previous bike is Fuji SL 3.3 with 50 mm deep carbon rims.

2x conversion 48/35 with 10-28 Cassette.
ENVE 7.8s tubeless.
Problem solved!

That is sharp! I was wondering if someone would get that color and add a FD! How much more did that cost?

Like 500 bucks I think. Last year’s venge was 8k for the pro axs force 2x so it’s not like they are ripping people off.

Oh yeah there are some placebo watts there, but riding this bike definitely feels different - which is good because this bike costs 10x what my old one did :joy:

The main difference for me is that I just don’t feel like I’m fighting with the bike anymore. It also holds is speed really well and once you get up to speed, it just glides along. I did an out and back ride today and it felt like I had a strong tailwind on the way out but I was able to hold the same speed when I turned back without any extra effort.

Massive caveat for me is that my baseline was an entry level aluminum endurance bike, but I’m really satisfied with this bike.

I love that white frame and those wheels look insane on it. Really nice bike :+1:t2:

What did you need for the conversion? Just two new derailleurs or a new crankset as well?

Silly question: I assume no problems fitting those wheels on the frame? I’ve got them as well and they don’t fit (too wide) my current road bike.

That’s the first pic of the white color I’ve seen in the wild. Very sharp!!

No the rear derailleur is the same. Just front derailleur, big and little ring and some bolts. Still uses the same power meter and cranks.

I’m not sure how a disk brake wheel is ever to wide? Maybe on a rim brake bike. Not sure I understand the question or where exactly it’s to wide.

Looks like Redbeard on Jay Street?

Yep, that’s the place. I’m glad I went there, it’s a good bike shop.

Few pics of my blue Pro in daylight.
For me it looks realy nice.

Just spoke with my shop. For the expert models, the said:
Blush color: ‘In transit’, which means generally soonish

Silver: Jan 2021

The other, multicolored one: April 2021

Wow. Can I ask where you are? In the SF Bay area, my LBS got both a Roubaix and a Tarmac in just a few days. OTOH, maybe it is color dependent.

I live north of Seattle, about 25 miles south of the border. My guess would be that it’s less about geography and more about size of the shop (does Specialized have Power Dealers or anything like that?) and simply waiting too long. I asked a week and a half ago and was told that there was one pink ready to ship and the other two colors would be available early/mid Sept. That run probably got bought out and now they’re taking orders for the next (or the next next, or the next next next, who knows?).

I told them I’d ask again later this week to see if ‘in transit’ has firmed up. If that becomes mid Sept, I’ll probably pull the trigger. If it’s 2021 then I’ll wait, too much can change in that time (my company folds, I have to quit in order to homeschool the kids, a different bike comes out, etc, etc).

Pro model might be available sooner, but since I already have a set of nice wheels and a powermeter, I don’t really want to pay an extra two grand and then have to deal with selling a set of wheels. Paint jobs sure are nice, though…

Yeah, pretty weird, huh? I have a 2016 Norco Tactic that’s been on the trainer for the past two years. The Enve 7.8s just plain 'ol don’t fit between the chain stays, even with only 25mm tires. It’s the outer width of the fairing that kills it. I can get the wheel in but it won’t turn.

For the record, this wasn’t a surprise, I knew they wouldn’t fit then I got the bike. I wasn’t concerned because the Enve’s were for my TT bike. Fast forward to now, I’ve gotten rid of my TT bike (because I hated it), and am planning on getting an aero road bike to race local triathlons on (then I can just leave the Norco on the trainer for the next 10 years until it explodes); I want to make sure that the Tarmac will take the wheels (although I think it’s generally a non-issue now, a lot has changed in frame/wheel design in the last four years).
