Tarmac SL7 Release date

So, I went to the shop, and spent 1.5 hours there riding and going back and forth between my new SL6 and the new SL7 Expert. I like the paint of the silver, but wish it stayed the same the whole way thru. I think the zebra style stripes look good, but the darker base is ok. I wish it did the stripes the whole way down instead.

This might sound crazy, but I felt like I could feel a slight difference between the two bikes with regards to accelerating. The SL7 just seemed a slight bit faster. I liked the bright top tube, and the hidden cables was nice. But I struggled to justify paying 800 more for hidden cables and 10 vs 9r carbon. I think the BB is different, but not entirely sure. I knew going in that if I didn’t walk out with the 7, that I would be able to get the difference in price as it was marked on sale. I originally paid $4200, but saw it was marked down to $3800.

Ultimately, I figured the SL7 wasn’t my dream bike (colorwise) and I could buy a new frame in the future if I wanted. It was really hard to decide, but I think I impressed the wife saving money! I did decide to flip the stem back to the original position on the SL6.

So, I might be crazy, but I obviously turned down the new bike and walked out with money in my pocket. Crazy enough, when he processed the return, the bike was marked down to 3500. So I got a Di2 SL6 bike for 3500. Pretty amazing deal if you ask me.

What do you guys think? Would you have kept the SL6 for 3500 or jumped up to the SL7 for 5k?

I did buy a new saddle (hope it works out) and bar tape. I’m also likely going to buy the aerofly II bars for my ride.

Here are some pics of the bike in the light outside. I also included my SL6 that I stayed with. I hate the look of the saddle, but it is comfy. 20200808_115330
