Swapped in new saddle, alters height?

Hi all - I replaced my old fizik saddle for a prolog I ndr one. After adjusting a bit it felt like I was riding a bit lower. Is that a normal thing and do I need to make offsetting seat post adjustments as well?

Did you measure the height of both saddles ( bottom rail to top of saddle)? If there is a difference you should increase your seat post by saddle height difference.

Also, you should measure where your sit bones contact both saddles and see if things need to move fore/aft. A few mm up/down/back/forth can lead to issues with sit bones, knees, feet, wrists, elbows…

Yes - it is very possible that the stack height is different between the saddles. As mentioned above, it is also important to measure the point at which your sit bones interact with the saddle. More setback will give you a greater effective saddle height, and less setback will have the opposite effect.

Fizik saddles tend to be quite long and narrow. Thus, they have “built in” setback as you will gravitate towards the widest part of the saddle as the back. A shorter saddle like the Prologo will likely require that you either raise the saddle height or increase the setback in order to replicate the knee extension you’re used to.

If I were you, I’d put the old saddle back on, note where your sit bones interact with it, and measure the distance from this point to the BB in a straight line. Additionally, measure the horizontal setback from this position to the BB. With these two measurements at hand, put the new saddle back on, mark the point of interaction for the sit bones, and adjust the setback and saddle height to match your old position.

Tanja Erath (ex pro rider) was speaking about this when commenting Tour Des Femmes. When they change saddles (keeping the same model) they nearly always lower the saddle as the new one is stiffer and sits higher. When they get used the progressively rise the saddle back to normal.
