Strava seeks new CEO

“Did you do it?
– Yes
– What did it cost
– We don’t know”

I am scarred for life… can’t imagine how you must feel :stuck_out_tongue:

If this were reddit, I would have awarded GPLama with gold for that.

Nate will take over as new CEO, that’s why they met, was it last year? Nate will juggle two companies and possibly in the future…… MERGER!!!

Are you thinking of the Nate + Eric Min (Zwift CEO) meeting, or there was one with Strava that I missed?

I think he’s confusing it with Eric. Besides, I’m guessing Nate has enough on his plate right now.

 You’re right, I’m confused. They’re all orange :face_with_diagonal_mouth:
But I think Nate should go for it. Spread his wings a little :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ve decided the right move is for Strava to hire me as their new CEO:

  • Engineering undergraduate degree - well aerospace and not CS
  • MBA
  • I started cycling on my collegiate cycling team a very long time ago

Any qualification I’m missing?

…and offer some legacy pricing. :joy:

You’re asking people questions instead of assuming you know already everything there is to know, so I fear you may have just disqualified yourself as CEO material. :frowning:

Well, you are allowed to feign humility by asking questions but must still be convinced of your own superior intellect.

Yes - you need to have run a few VC-backed companies into the ground.

CEOs don’t run companies into the ground, economic headwinds do. /s

You are well on your way to the executive suite

I will remember all my little people virtual friends when I’m living the high life as Strava’s CEO

I hear Elon Musk is interested  and wants heatmaps on Mars, along with the Earth-Mars KOM

Disclaimer: There is absolutely no evidence for this and 100% a joke

They all say that… :joy:

All of the “challenges” you see are paid advertising. I looked at their site once and I believe it is north of $10000 to host your own “Challenge”.

That is the only way they survived for the last 14 years until they added subs.

Spot on.

Which, credit to them for figuring out how to get advertising dollars without putting up traditional advertising. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be enough to make it sustainable.

Unfortunately, all of the good things you mentioned are free!

I paid for Strava early on in my “enthusiast cyclist” career, then I realized there were better tools for routes (rwgps), analysis (intervals icu), and I didn’t care at all about the so called competitive aspects. I now use it strictly to follow “friends”, get ideas for rides, and see interesting places.
