Lol I did end up grabbing a S-Works SL7 from someone that got an SL8
I have the SL8 pro with Sram Force etap AXS with the high rims and it weighs with bottle cages and pedals, 7,7 kg, somewhat higher then catalog…
Spec is 7.44 without cages and pedals. So 7.7 sounds about right, no?
The roval wheels and Force group are kinda heavy compared to what I’m using.

Finally decided to do something about that Chimney today.
I had forgotten how much nicer the proper topcap looks
Also got the bike down to 7kg with some light 353nsw, dura-ace cassette, carbon railed saddle etc.
Not sure I can make it much lighter without spending a lot of money on a lot of marginal gains at this point. None of the really light cranksets go down to 160mm either ![]()
I drool every time I see that green ![]()
I love it, I just wish the decals were a bit more subtle
Which bolt are you using for your top cap?
It was something I had laying around, I think it came with a cheap carbon top cap that came from Amazon.
Looks like it’s a brand called risk, they sell cheap titanium bolts on AliExpress etc
Apt name…
Haha, possibly. Not really any risk using it in the top cap though
Hi, can we share a little bit of your riding experience on sl8? What are your likes and dislikes? What are the main differences from sl7 from the riding point of view? Thanks.
weight and comfort
As said, comfort is the big one - way more compliant at the back. SL8 feels a little stiffer on the frontend and at the BB sprinting. No more out of the saddle disc rub which the sl7 suffered with.
It’s a tiny bit lighter, I’d be surprised if anyone can tell the difference in ride feel.
It’s lighter and has a little more comfort on the rear end. I’d say everything else is not noticeable and even these two are not huge upgrades. But I like riding it more than the SL7 and that was my favorite bike ever.
Interesting, so i guess the SL8 is your favorite bike now. I have heard so many great things about SL8, but one thing hold me back from pulling the trigger is the new one piece handlebar, since the narrowest one is 38cm, i am a small dude, need narrower than that; the aero gain comes with the new bar on the SL8 is not all that important to me, but i have heard that the way this bar makes the bike feel on the road is different, not sure if you can comment on that.
I think there is a review video saying that SL8 actually beats you up on the road, i guess people have different sensations?
I have an SL7, even if I did upgrade to the SL8, I would still use the 2 piece bar/stem with Enve 35/39 bars, or the Aerocoach bars.
Well, that could work, you could use the SL7 stem, it allows you to choose your own handlebar at least. Though it doesn’t look that clean aesthetically from my personal opnion, apart from that, i just heard some anecdotes that it is not just about aesthetics, the bike actually rides better with the newly one piece handlebar, not sure if thats’ the true, hence i am asking from the people who has the actual experience.
Thanks for sharing, 0 difference…
is also a quite unique experience since at least all above say SL8 is more comfy on the rear end.
