Another CAAD10 (2012) in Liquigas colours here, updated this year to new 11 speed 105 and Scribe wheels. Sometimes wish I’d got deeper sections but only for the look! Green Supacaz for the win.
Finally found a small frame to build. 10+ years old and still rides great.
Sweet old ride!
My Trek Superfly SS. Love this bike. It flies up hills. I also have a Caad 12 that I love, but there’s enough pics of those!
I’m pretty sure I already know the answer, but, being a typical cyclist it’s taking me a while for the common sense to overcome the eye envy.
With this beauty Allez set up like this, how does the ride compare to other bikes you’ve had.
I’m thinking about an Allez for the 2-3hr weekend group rides I do.
Thanks!
I have a super-similar build but with Enve cockpit and 4.5 AR wheels running 30mm tires.
It is as stiff as any bike out there and blazingly fast. With the dropped seat stays, aggressive geometry, and aerodynamic seat post, I think the aerodynamics of the Allez Sprint are often overlooked. The trade-off is a harsher ride for “rough” roads. Larger volume tires and wide wheels have mitigated some of the more high-frequency road buzz, but it still comes through on anything worse than smooth tarmac to include chip-seal and root-strewn bike lanes. Before I got the larger wheels and tires, it was really pretty brutal, but wonderful for racing.
If you ride on smooth roads, though, I don’t think it can be beat for the speed and value.
To compare with other bikes though, it is noticeably harsher than my SL6 SWorks tarmac rim brake for rides longer than 2.5-3 hrs. The road buzz that is soaked up by the Tarmac becomes less and less tolerable as the hours wear on, I notice it most in my hands/wrists, shoulders/back, neck, and under-carriage. For shorter rides, though, the Allez Sprint does just fine.
I’ve got a stock Allez Sprint Disc that I’ve ridden with both 25c GP 4000sii’s and 30c Vittoria Corsa Controls. The 30’s definitely did a lot of soften the ride up and have been great for longer solo rides. But I think the bike is ideal for 2-3 hour group rides.
It’s fast and fun and as long as you know it’s a race-y bike and not a comfy cruiser then I think it’s a great bike.
Haha thanks dude! Im still pretty new to road cycling - this was my first real bike for myself. My first few races ( last summer ) a teammate let me borrow his 1st gen s works venge. Then i got the build process started on this bike. In between giving that venge back and building this bike i rode an sl6 rim brake as well.
Biggest thing would be the aggresive fit compared to the tarmac. It’s labeled as a crit bike, and it shows in the handling. With that being said, ive done a couple 80’s and a 100 in it with no issues. Roads here in corpus Christi suck, so I run 28’s for my training set up. Rides well and I would honestly run it on gravel without complaints if i wanted to.
A fellow Yeti ARC-X rider!!! I wanted one when they first came out but didn’t have money at the time. A few years ago I was scouting eBay and classifieds for maybe a year before finally finding one in my size. Built it up with SRAM Rival 1x. I’ve had a lot of good adventures on it over the past 5 years:
I see some of the others responded saying it was quite a harsh ride. I don’t deny their experience, but I can say from my experience, I moved from a carbon Domane to an Allez Sprint Disc last year, and I found the buzz and comfort to be nearly equivalent.
Granted, I’m a lighter rider at 145 lbs to 150 lbs (66 kg to 68 kg), so that could play into it, but overall I cannot fault the bike for comfort. In many ways I feel more comfortable on it. Additionally, it felt and was objectively faster than the Domane immediately, and I’ve had way, way, way more fun with it than I have had any right to. It just wants to move forward, and you can feel that with each pedal stroke. I didn’t have that with my old bike.
With how much fun I’ve had with it and how much I’m enjoying it, I also do not feel bad about getting some really nice wheels on the bike either. It was made to upgrade, and I’m excited to do so next spring.
Great build. Glad to see there’s another Yeti Arc-X still seeing adventure miles. Mine is my second, after my original one was stolen 5 years ago. Took me another 4+ years to find a small size frame in decent enough shape to buy and rebuild.
Thanks for this! These are actually 2 of the bikes I’d be looking at when I go new. What year Domane did you have?
I had a 2016 model. I really did love that bike but I felt I outgrew it as I began to look toward racing more. The Domane and the Sprint were essentially the same price point, and my primary reason for getting a new bike was to get disc brakes so my investment in new wheels would be more future proof than getting a set of rims brake ones.
Really can’t go wrong with either of them imo. Domane is definitely more versatile though, especially with the disc brake models. It can be a gravel bike and a racing bike with some tire changes, whereas the Sprint is just built for rising fast on the road.
I raced cyclocross on one of those Arc-X bikes for a few years. It was a great bike. Burly and fun to ride!

Nice! I have a couple of strider/pushbikes on the agenda next month for my twins!
Dusting off the wife’s old Stumpy M2.
1995 edition if memory is working. RS Judy, XT build kit, GripShift and Wheelsmith wheels with Specialized rims. Original tires (26 x 2.0 with “grippy” grey).
Cockpits sure looked different back in the day eh ?
My wife and I made some changes to our bikes over holidays. We switched from CAAD10 (her) and a CAAD13 (me) over to some Allez Sprint. Safe to say we are both in love with these bikes and can’t wait to ride them outside when winter is over.
As a side note. This is my 3rd post here in under a year. I might have a bike problem! But this was last one and is a true keeper.
Where did you find them in stock? I thought they were hard to come by!
I got really lucky and found mine on FB marketplace and then put up an ad looking for the 49cm for my wife and somebody answered it.
