I am not sure how to ask the question of phrase correctly. or what search for.
lets says that i have the powder pouches of sis beta fuel/maurtem/etc. they suggest to mix the powder in 500ml of water.
now let’s say i go for a big ride and i have 750ml water bottles. does it change anything that i am mixing the drinks in 50% more water? is the concentration of carbs the same? will the absorption by the body be the same? i am assuming that i am still drinking 80g of carbs but more diluted/dissolved
when i have a powder jar from gatorade etc i increase the amount of powder so if the serving suggested in 50g per 500ml and i have a 750 water bottle i add 75g of powder…
Just add the amount of carbs that you want/need. In colder weather you still need carbs even though you might not need as much fluid.
To much sour energy powder might give you a sore throat and if you don’t want to open a new 50gram sachet when you only need 25 extra grams, just add 25 grams of regular sugar instead.
my question does the amount of water change anything in the carb mix? the solution concentration is diferent i guess so they are not absorbed equally…??
is the same 80g cho in 500 ml water and 80g cho in 750 ml?
If you spend 25% more time consuming the drink it’s obviously going to impact the absorption rate, other wise I think you’re splitting hairs.
If you drink a 500ml bottle that has 80g of carbs in 1 hour. Or you drink a 750ml bottle that has 80g of carbs in 1 hour you are still getting 80g of carbs in 1 hour. The small difference in the amount of water will not really matter.
If you drink the 750ml bottle in 90 min you are getting fewer carbs per hour.
If more water is needed because of a longer ride add more mix like you do with Gatorade to get the same carbs per hour.
Maurten is a little different in that it needs to be mixed 1 pkg per 500ml. This is so it gets the slight gel effect. It claims this helps decrease stomach issues. You should add more mix if you are using more water. Two 750ml bottles is 1500ml so 3 pkgs split equally between the bottles
