How’d it go??

Terrible! lol.

I really underestimated how hot it was going to be and didn’t have enough electrolytes. Bad dehydration and cramping. Had to limp to finish.

Going to give it another shot July 4th weekend.

Great read! Would read again, on repeat for hours.

Anyway, I did a 100 mile ride at tempo( 82%) in 4 hours and 19 minutes on my aero bars. One water stop because my bike only had 2 cages. It was on a 1 km track. Comedy was me trying to ride home from the track up some pretty steep hills( I live in SF) Excruciating.

Thanks again for the great read and a reflection of my own craziness.
Cheers,

E

Indeed.

I’d be willing to wager that if you added in some consistent VO2 work you’d really benefit.

There’s a good reason it is the pros doing .8 for an ironman bike leg and most mortals are doing .7 or so. Then go run a sub 3 hour marathon, in crazy hot conditions.

I read this thread a while ago and thought I would like to try this outdoors someday.

Today I decided to ride at low tempo for 5 hours. I thought I would bonk around 3-4 hours but it didn’t happen. Faded a little in the last 30’ when riding solo.
