So there is still action out there! Keep this thread alive!
It’s kinda hard to take a selfie on the bike. Social distancing and all that.
The descent is a blast.
Local TT from 7/15 on a closed race track. Pictures taken by a club mate.
10 laps, 1.4 miles per lap, 80-something degrees with moderate humidity. This pic from around lap 8.
Two words: cooked ![]()
Definitely fun to get off the trainer and some some real racing.
- first time in breakaway ever check
- best all-time power from 5-15 min in breakaway check
It was 3-hour race so I knew it was unsustainable, at least got cool pictures.
Btw, the winner was Marcin Białobłocki, UK folks should know him, he obviously went solo and lapped the field
Is this at Waterford? I almost made it there but ultimately decided it was a little far from Ann Arbor to make the drive after work.
Yes! This was Waterford on the 15th. Everyone rode CCW for the longer hill and some high speed cornering after. Planned to go last week but was too late to drive once work finished. About a 20 minute drive for me, from Ann Arbor that’s probably more like 45 to an hour with all the construction traffic.
Not sure how many more races they will do but I hope to make at least 1 more. If you can make the schedule work it’s worth the trip. ![]()
I though I recognized that wooden wall! I would probably make my way out there if it was the normal crit schedule but I probably won’t do it for a TT.
Crits finally resumed here and hopped into a practice race.
Although I was excited to get out with others I was a bit nervous not having raced a crit in nearly 18 months. Not to mention 95% of my riding is by myself or indoors.
I felt somewhat at ease knowing most haven’t raced or ridden with others but that didn’t seem to be the case.
Three laps in we’re averaging 27mph and at one point I was completely boxed in on all sides. To the point of rubbing elbows. That made my nerves shoot through the roof so I eased up as soon as I could. As soon as I did I was basically pedaling backwards and rode the rest of the time chasing small groups.
Sketchy but fun times.
