Ride Photos / Action Shots!

One from Mallorca and two from Haute Route Stavanger, both last year!

The descent is a blast.

Local TT from 7/15 on a closed race track. Pictures taken by a club mate.
10 laps, 1.4 miles per lap, 80-something degrees with moderate humidity. This pic from around lap 8.
Two words: cooked
Definitely fun to get off the trainer and some some real racing.

  • first time in breakaway ever check
  • best all-time power from 5-15 min in breakaway check

It was 3-hour race so I knew it was unsustainable, at least got cool pictures.
Btw, the winner was Marcin Białobłocki, UK folks should know him, he obviously went solo and lapped the field

Exploring on a Saturday showing a friend new roads

A few from a very wet and windy TT. Great to be racing again though.

Is this at Waterford? I almost made it there but ultimately decided it was a little far from Ann Arbor to make the drive after work.

Yes! This was Waterford on the 15th. Everyone rode CCW for the longer hill and some high speed cornering after. Planned to go last week but was too late to drive once work finished. About a 20 minute drive for me, from Ann Arbor that’s probably more like 45 to an hour with all the construction traffic.

Not sure how many more races they will do but I hope to make at least 1 more. If you can make the schedule work it’s worth the trip.

I though I recognized that wooden wall! I would probably make my way out there if it was the normal crit schedule but I probably won’t do it for a TT.

Crits finally resumed here and hopped into a practice race.

Although I was excited to get out with others I was a bit nervous not having raced a crit in nearly 18 months. Not to mention 95% of my riding is by myself or indoors.

I felt somewhat at ease knowing most haven’t raced or ridden with others but that didn’t seem to be the case.

Three laps in we’re averaging 27mph and at one point I was completely boxed in on all sides. To the point of rubbing elbows. That made my nerves shoot through the roof so I eased up as soon as I could. As soon as I did I was basically pedaling backwards and rode the rest of the time chasing small groups.

Sketchy but fun times.

Catching a break at the back of the breakaway at the Tuesday night practice crit thing.

Last year I was always near the back or just in the middle. Yesterday I made attacks. PROGRESS!

CX race in Denmark 2019

Me in a not aero position tonight (my excuse although marshalled well it’s a blind bend on to a national speed limit (60mph) road ). Still it was my fastest time through it.

April 2010 2nd edition of Singlespeedapalooza in Newburgh, NY -my first race at 37. If you’d told me that 10 years later I’d be training “seriously” (:joy: wait, is that what I’m doing?!) I’d have told you that you’re crazy, I’ll just ride my way to fast. Well, that doesn’t work anymore. The bike is a rigid single speed -On One Scandal frame & their carbon tube fork, some Mary clone bars by Origin 8, crappy BB7 brakes, Surly SS hubs laced to Velocity Blunt rims with a White Industries freewheel. Think I was running Maxxis Ardent tires -horrible choice for a front. They grip till they don’t as you lean over & sometimes hook back up but more often than not, they don’t. Also had a polished XT crank on a square taper bottom bracket with a direct mount custom machined chainring waaaayyyy before dm cranks became a thing.

some more mud from downunder  local CX, first one of the year/season

My last two TTs on the local course have been chalk and cheese. Last week a 25.03 in the warmish sunshine on a hard sporting course and this week having my chemo damaged feet go numb for a 26.24
