It doesnโt and it is only part of the key. Same reasons we donโt use HR for bike training. There is a qualitive difference between the work on the muscles and the CV stress measured simply by the rate of the heart.
Without a bunch of other context, HR data can be very misleading. 2 huge influencers on HR for me are temp and caffeine usage. Not that those things (and others) couldnโt be incorporated into a model to help inform recovery status inclusive of HR, but HR is far from a simple indicator. Iโm not saying HR data (and anything else they can get their hands on) shouldnโt be incorporated into the models they are building, just that the โwheelโ for HR isnโt a simple round thing.
I feel like people dismiss heart rate because things like heat and dehydration can cause fluctuations or variations. In my opinion that is one of the best reasons to use it in training. Your body is reacting to stresses. I try to train โintensityโ with pace/power and endurance/โeasyโ with heart rate. On an โeasyโ day I want to make sure it is โeasyโ. There is a time and a place for power, pace and heart rate.
I think most of the community agree with that.
Iโm just going into my last week of HV Sus PB so recovery week.
Looking back, and at RLGLs advice, itโs definitely telling me to cut out even easy pace running and swimming, and switch to a masters plan.

Iโd like to hear an update/more from TR on running swimming RLGL before I do that. Iโm a heavy guy so running affects HR disproportionately for me.
Looking back at my calendar, I had some of my best intensity performances on โyellowโ days.
It is warning you about the future, not necessarily that day.
Try and listen to the update at the start off the latest podcastโฆ
Anyone else notice the new feature to release with RLGL today, โTraining Approach?โ A five point scale from Conservative to Aggressive that seems to affect how quickly TR will assign yellow or red days. Strange it wasnโt brought up in the announcement video.
Last week?
Iโve left it at the middle default setting
Whoops! Clearly missed that. Youโre on the ball!
