I just went up on my FTP and am in an interval block of my training, so it’s tough and I’m still adjusting to the increased intensity. I’ve noticed that my cadence is lower than usual and I’m getting caught in the ERG death spiral. Does anyone quick toggle this off during workouts? Are you even using ERG during your workouts?
On the computer keyboard, the letter T toggles between ERG and Resistance mode. Left/right arrows adjust resistance. That said, I just about always use ERG mode. I try to never let my cadence drop. I keep cadence up or even increase it a bit…until it’s clear it’s too tough so I lower power percentage using the down arrow on the computer keyboard as needed. Depending on the situation, I might lower it 10 or 20%, or sometimes more to recover. I might start the next tough interval at 90% or 80% rather than 100% if needed.
