What are the ideal progression levels for different disciplines. Im training for Full Distance Triathlon in July this year (called Outlaw Full in UK) but wondering what my levels should be looking like closer to the time.
There are no “ideal” but come race time you want your race-specific efforts to be pretty tuned up.
If you’re spending a lot of time in Tempo and Sweet Spot during your event, then your specialty phase will probably focus on those and less elsewhere.
We’d agree with @BCM.
There aren’t necessarily “ideal” PLs, and every athlete’s PLs will vary depending on many factors (e.g., when they began their current training plan, whether or not their FTP has changed recently, what types of workouts they’re doing, etc.).
Your PLs will generally reflect the demands of your event, though. If you’re training for a Full Distance Triathlon, you’ll likely see your Tempo and Sweet Spot PLs up higher than your Anaerobic PLs would be.
We’d recommend not worrying about specific PL numbers to try to hit – if you work through your training plan to the best of your abilities, Adaptive Training will make sure your plan and workouts are dialed into where your current fitness levels are.
