It would have helped if Remco had shown a willingness to ride rather than just attack and gesticulate.
You don‘t know what was going on in the peloton, maybe he got away in a good moment.
In the short time I could look at it, it seemed
controlled by 1-2 teams.
Btw live data here: https://www.tissottiming.com/2024/crdwch/event-64/phase-1/live
Hmmm…maybe it isn’t over just yet. Gap down to 38” w/ 17km to go.
Chase group just letting Remco do the work……that ain’t gonna get it done. They have a chance but they need to ride together.
Pog was saving something for that last 18% (!) bump….gap going out slightly now. Think he has it firmly.
MVP goes hard over the top in a last gasp to secure a medal
The race needed up being a better race than it was shaping up to be when Pog took off w/ 70km to go with Sivakov.
Pog is just another level to everyone else. Dunno how you can beat him in a one day race like this….we’ll see if JV can challenge him again next July. Definitely not counting him out just yet.
It is not real you all know?
Yeah pretty much.
Absolutely unreal for sure.
Tadej in a post race interview:
Interviewer: “Was this the plan all along?”
Tadej:“No of coarse not, it wasn’t the plan, it was stupid.”
Things got a little dusty when I unexpectedly caught sight of some Muriel street art
Otherwise a much more enjoyable finale than I would’ve guessed at 50km to go, last 30 km was a lot more action, and way less group two syndrome, than I expected
Overall some great road races over the past few days, really nice course design with a circuit that rewarded a variety of rider types and race strategies. Hard to build a final circuit that races to such a wide variety of outcomes
Are you saying it was a rigged race with a pre selected winner?
No im saying it was unreal… hard to comprehend.
We were discussing what the meanings of the colors on Tadej’s bike was, we could all(easily) explain the yellow and pink, but what was the blue and maybe the black striping for?
I’m not sure how to interpret that? What was the plan??
I think it is, more or less, a general map of the race parcours as opposed to a team specific strategy for fueling or tactics.
Whose bike was that?
It was from the Suisse team: Johan Jacobs. It‘s a general map layout + some symbols.
Also some inofficial snapshots (from friends being at the right place in the right moment):
There is also a video from Pogacar just after he finished. I have many more photos (from lots of athletes), but don‘t want to spam. There was so much going on around the cars after the race.
Btw I rode the finish myself yesterday before they took it down (still with people cheering).
Man, that front tire looks really wide hey.
Where can I watch the full race replay? I was busy at work and missed it.
