I used to buy prescription glasses from Ugly Fish Optics in Australia. They have a good collection of glass frames for all gender types. You can even buy polarised motorcycle glasses from their another outlet Ugly Fish Eyewear.
I think the US version is https://www.sportrx.com/
With higher prescriptions you have to be careful about how much curve there is as it can distort the view. Inserts for the RX and photosensitive lenses are what I do as I canāt see without them so needed them to work in all light conditions. Currently using Rudy project
I remember reading this thread long ago. In case of any interest, I looked at a much cheaper ($50) offering and wrote about it.
Luke Prescription Cycling Sport Sunglasses Kit
1000 Miles: Luke Prescription Cycling Sport Sunglasses from Optical Factor
TLDR: I liked them a lot. No regrets.
RX sport are a wonderful company. I bought some Oakley Plazma prescription from them and never got on with them - always fogging in the corners and the insides started to deteriorate, what a crap pair of glasses, after 15 months they said just send them back and we will issue you a refund or store credit. Who else would do that ?
I recommend Bolle Phantom lenses, they have a variety of different styles with options for embedded lenses and inserts. Never fog up due to the coating. But are £400 - £500. Currently 10% off. Photochromic as well.
Maybe itās me cheaping out, but I have issues with fogging between the two lenses with inserts. I generally only use them in dry weather, and have gone for contact lenses. I only really use them for cycling and gigs, so a months supply lasts me ages. I will caveat that my prescription is pretty low - not that I do, but Iām still legal to drive without them!
I was thinking about this as well, I may try these anti-fog wipes.
Seems like an old thread but came up on my feed. I just bought some from Zenni that have been good so far.
I think they cost me around $50. I buy all my glasses there and have been extremely happy.
Iāve tried Zenni in the past for cycling glasses and was fine with them. I havenāt used this newer frame yet. That one looks to be an improvement on past options.
RudyProject has been the only company that will make sunglasses that arenāt inserts and Iām pretty limited in what I can order for style.
I didnāt get the same model but I recently bought a pair from them too. Theyāre perfectly fine IMO. Nothing fancy, but the prescription is right and they stay on my head
Yep exactly. And if I drop them I donāt have a heart attack.
Thanks for sharing this - Iāll likely order a pair soon. I like that it has curved ends to help keep them in place.
FWIW, I purchased my first pair of prescription sunglasses last year and they are a game changer. Not only can I see my bike computer again but can actually see what is stuck in my tire! I bought ROKA and used the ROGAN coupon code at the checkout to get 20% off. Would highly recommend!
For years Iāve gotten glasses for riding by choosing a sports-like frame at the optometristās and having them put in appropriate prescription lenses. These frames are generally not Oakley or other sports specific and very expensive frames. I wear progressive bifocals and have the āaddā reduced so that thereās less correction at the bottoms. This works well for hiking and riding. Youāre optometrist should know what to do when you say how you intend to use the glasses.
