Didn’t see this here yet, and I was itching to grab a pair, but will now pass. The HR part really sucks apparently. There are too many things people have to go through to get them to even hals-arse their intended purpose. Shocking for an Apple product possibly, but yeah, don’t buy them if you are looking for an alternative to a strap or watch for a HRM.
I really liked the first version, after they were replaced twice and I figured out how to get them to charge more reliably. I could zone out and ride for hours. SO I bought a replacement HRM200, and will pass on these. (Got to find my originals I guess)
I got a pair because I wanted a new set of sweat-proof workout headphones with active noise cancellation, but the heart rate thing is hilariously bad. Even for the “you’re holding it wrong” company, it’s inexplicable that they shipped something so broken. At least the noise cancellation is actually good, I can barely hear my drivetrain, treadmill or fans when I’m working out indoors.
Yeah, I’m still on the fence over buying them. I found my first versions yesterday and have been charging them up. I mean, when they worked, they were really quite good. I can’t remember if they had any noise cancellation, but they fit solid and after figuring out how to get them to charge consistently (lick the contacts on the buds and wipe the prongs in the case) used them daily, only stopping when the Airpod Pro came out.
HAH! I found my old ones and charged them up. They worked for exactly one ride. I had them charging constantly and tried to get them to work for a second ride, and…
But that first ride was a flashback to better days and I fell in love with them all over again! They worked fantastically! Quiet, powerful, fit GREAT, it was all the good of the often frustrating relationship from memory. Like dating an ex after years off. All the good, and none of the bad, until the second date, and the left one was dead (again) and I could not get it to come back. The reasons for the breakup came back and the cringe of falling for the last great date was trashed. SIGH
Still wondering if the V2 charge better, work better as ear buds. They might be worth it still if they actually work as ear loop ear buds.
I have a problem with in-ear buds often. Like the Air Pods Pro don’t tend to work well, fall out, don’t seal well. I also sweat a lot in my ears (apparently) and have waxy ears too so at one time was using iso and a q-tip to clean them prior to using in-ear buds. I had to stop as it was drying out my ears far too much. Yeah, it’s a mess at times.
I had a Shure set that worked pretty well, but they were corded also. I also have a Polk set (in-ear) that fit really well(!), but they were also corded and I rather often caught those cords while running on the treadmill, and the trainer.
