Power meter on gravel bike?

PSA for 4iiii users, if it’s been a year or so since you’ve purchased a precision3 check the app for a firmware update. Mt 4iiii p3 was acting real funky out of the blue after never having an issue. Opened the app, updated the firmware, back to perfect.

Explain.

I’ve found Garmin Rally pedals to be flawless for XC and gravel racing. They can take a beating.

My mate uses a left sided stages on his Lauf but as a heads up he lost his battery cap at the weekend so if folk go for that option keep an eye on your battery cap.

Stages Ultegra left-side on a GRX 600 crankset here (it was 2020 and Stages was wiped out of the GRX). Works great. But not sure what to make of Stages not pushing a firmware update in years. I will note that TR shows my Stages as having low reception whereas my other devices show as full reception. I don’t know if that suggests any data lag on outdoor rides to my Roam.

For those on Rally pedals, is your signal strength on TR showing strong? I wonder if Stages PMs are on a really old bluetooth protocol or something.

I have a PM on all my bikes except my 40 yr old pub bike. Data is either useful or irrelevant, but is never a bad thing.
In your particular case, between using power data for more focused and consistent training and pacing during long rides, I’d say you’re a prime candidate for a power meter.
Given that you can get into a 4iiii or Stages for under $400, I don’t see any reason not to add a PM.
