Performance vs Time of Day

Morning training always seems to work best for me.

“Therefore, adaptations to training are greater at the time of day at which training is regularly performed than at other times. Nevertheless, although modifications in resting hormones concentrations could explain this time-of-day specific adaptations, precise information on the underlying mechanisms is lacking.”

I’ve found this to be true. I don’t train in the mornings, and when I do, it’s always bad. When I exercise at my preferred time, it’s the best. When I exercise PAST my preferred time, it’s worse, but not as bad as early mornings. I’m sure I could change this if I just committed to a different time of day workout, but I don’t want to.

Iv always found my heart rate about 10bpm higher when I work out in the morning for the same watts

For me morning workouts at 5:30am. My body is just not used to this. I have had years of TR workouts in the afternoon. So my question stands: does AI pick up on this nuance and does it adjust for the odd afternoon performance feedback as an outlier if the workout wasn’t performed at typical workout time?

For me it’s conflict: My performance increases as the day goes on (at least through early evening). But on the other hand my motivation goes down, with my discipline diminishing to the point that I find myself regularly blowing off workouts planned for late afternoons or evenings.

Right now, I’ve found the sweet spot to split the difference and do my workouts around lunch time.

I just prefer getting mine done in the morning. Maybe my hormones will be at a better level for afternoon performance. But ill just wont be feeling it as I have stuff to do.

Cant find the source but Im sure I read some research a few years back that stated Cardio work is done best in the evenings.

And I would concur, I always prefer afternoon/evening work to mornings
