Outside workouts- chasing averages

So glad to see this question and the replies. Tried my first workout in Richmond Park and having never done power training before I spent way more time looking at the Garmin than I’d like, trying to get close to the planned power. Good to see it’s not such an issue, and even tough I don’t have an indoor trainer, there’s no way I’d ride indoors in the UK Summer - no fun in that for me!

Interestingly, I also find it harder to ride at power (and gauge power) downhill - I guess I’m just much more used to coasting there. Even a slight downhill at ftp power and I go way faster than I normally do in general.

I only just got a power meter - I guess you get a better sense of the power you’re riding after a while?
