Outside Workout Testers

Hello guys,
I have the Mount Goode scheduled for tomorrow, and I’ll do it on the outside.
but I have one question:
Indoors Mount Goode is 3x15’ at 97-99% FTP with 8’ RI
Outdoors it is 5x9’ at 97-99% FTP with 6’ RI

I know that some workouts have changes to be doable outdoors, but I think that this is not the case. 15’ is feasible and should be doable outdoors, and I think that, even if the time in zone 4 is the same, 5x9 is a different training stimulus than 3x15.
Should I just keep the 3x15 original and do it outdoors? What is the purpose of changing it to 5x9?
Thanks

They’re not exactly the same, but close enough. Granted if you can do the 3x15, you should be able to do the 5x9 even on the shorter rest.

In any case, if are able to find a stretch of road or hill that allows you to do 15min, then do so. There is nothing that says you have to do the outdoor version. I am quite spoiled with my location, and I often forget that a finding an appropriate 15min stretch of road or hill is difficult for many people.

Ok
I have a 4km mostly plain road section here that I use for those longer intervals.
I have to do a U turn when I finish the section, but I would need to do that even if it was a 9’ interval.
I’ll stick with the 3x15 because it looks harder…
Thanks for the input, and you’re right: it’s much more easier to find, a 9’ hill than a 15’ hill to do this interval.

Thanks. I like the graphical display on the workout screen, but what your saying makes more sense.
