How does TR handle indoor workouts on a dumb trainer with bike PM? Does it do any analysis? I never really looked to what it does. I do TR indoor and TR outdoor workouts on the same bikes with power meters using an old dumb trainer when inside. Indoors I don’t get the same outdoor survey asking if I completed the workout. TR seems to know if I didn’t complete indoors because I get a failed survey when I need to stop early and the standard rating survey when I finish the complete workout.
If you have a PM it analyse the data from that regardless. I used to do my workouts on RGT and have it control the trainer and TR only see my power meter and things worked fine. In essence the to TR the trainer was dumb as it wasn’t controlling it. Hence as you are seeing there’s no need for a survey inside with a pm setup.
So why is TR outside any different? Once I confirm I did the workout you would think TR could do the same analysis and not just treat TR outside workouts as pass/fail. For me, it is the same PM data being transmitted to TR with outside having the additional speed and GPS data.
They’ve not developed the technology yet to analyse the more random power profile, hence the need for the survey currently. Someone from TR support might be able to tell you what those stumbling blocks are that stopping them from using the data at the moment. At least now they’ve developed RLGL to takes account of the stress induced by outside rides, hopefully thats a good step towards their full analysis.
