Optimize app and Optimized Stress Score

The Optimize score changes, but the OTS score remains 0.0 regardless of whether or not I worked out

My first step when any app acts weird is to force quit the app, and relaunch.

I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing here. The OTS score is 0.0 every day. It’s the score on the bottom left and the first score of every day in the chart you mentioned. I think you’re calling the Optimize Score the OTS score, but I could be wrong.

My table has OTS scores. Those scores are similar but not the same as TSS.

What sources can the iOS app pull in data from?

Here’s my setup that I’m trying to figure out if it would work with:

  • HRV from Apple Watch → sent to Apple Health & TrainingPeaks
  • Sleep from Apple Watch → sent to Apple Health & TrainingPeaks
  • Workouts from TR (indoor) & Garmin (outdoor) → sent to TrainingPeaks / Strava

We think we figured it out. I have been doing my workouts in Zwift. I was assuming that my power data would come across from the Garmin Connect feed along with my HRV and Sleep data, but that’s incorrect. They need the power data straight from Zwift.

I’ve connected Zwift now so I’ll see if that works next ride. I’ll also do a ride outside this weekend with my Edge and see if that goes across through GC or not.

He says Apple watch release is planned for end of this year

How are you getting hrv and sleep to TP?

I’m only feeding the App with workouts recorded on Garmin, including 1 indoor ride (gps disabled) at the gym last week. Working fine.

Good to hear what you learned. I always record on Garmin and use that as ā€˜the truth’ even if also using/recording with Zwift or RGT to control trainer in Sim mode.

Yeah. I assume this means that anyone just doing a ride straight in TR won’t get values. You’ll have to dual record with your head unit (or Zwift)

via Healthfit iOS app. The Healthfit app can sync data from Apple Health into other apps (e.g., TP) and from other apps into Apple Health

You would need to test that. I’m not sure why Zwift > Garmin wasn’t able to feed Optimize, but one possible reason is that Garmin won’t ā€œsend itā€ (or not allow 3rd party apps to pull it) unless it was recorded on Garmin.

After listening to Frank’s podcast today, I came away with the thought that Frank has BIG ambitions for this app. It will be interesting to see how it evolves over the next 12 months.

If anyone who subscribed uses the free month coaching option, please review it here. I will probably wait on mine until January in light of my May 6th event.

I get the impression that there is more support for FasCat’s new app and subscription service going on here than in FasCat’s own forums :upside_down_face:

The podcast was light on the detail of where they want the app to go, but what I took from it was that the vision is to have Optimize be a central hub for where you can see visualizations and charts to show how your training and recovery has gone, and also to see your upcoming scheduled training and meals. It sounds like an element of AI/ML might be used in future to dynamically update training plans, or even suggest sessions. None of these features are ā€˜new’ and other platforms already do some or all of this (TrainingPeaks for deep analysis, TR and Join for AI-enhanced training plans, etc) so the success of the Fascat platform depends on them being able to deliver at a higher level than the competition.

From what I can see they only have two tech employees currently: one data science/data viz employee, and one software engineer, which furthers my suspicion that they have massively underestimated what they’re taking on. Also, I didn’t think that it was a good sign that Frank spent so much time talking about how he used to do his training with just a stopwatch with the subtext of you don’t really need a head unit or device to do your workouts. I’m sure that he’s saying that from the position of a coach trying to break down barriers and remove excuses, but he’s leading a tech company now and needs to take user feedback on board.

The ā€œcounting employeesā€ counter example is Intervals. So much that one guy pulled off. The best teams I’ve had the pleasure of working with were rather small.

It really is incredible. And he’s super responsive to feature requests, which he turns around quickly and in volume.
