Today’s score is based on yesterday’s activity, plus today’s sleep and HRV. Probably did not understand your question.
Thanks for a reply. I’m specifically asking if the picture I showed means that today’s sleep score did not come across, or it did, but it sits in the field from a day before.
Sleep score did not come across.
Thank you!!
Over on the FasCat forum I believe Frank posted about the issue, and the fix is coming. Translating the software speak, what he said is that Garmin sends a message with both HRV and Sleep fields, but Garmin sends HRV in one message (and empty Sleep value), and Sleep in another message (with empty HRV value). So the app needs to read 2 messages to get both HRV and Sleep. Which is scheduled for the next release of the app.
Have you tried the in-app support?
Nice. Thanks for that. I searched, but must have missed that. I DID contact them just today on the app. I had thought the app support mechanism was only for people who had already subscribed, but I was wrong. Once I asked in the app, they replied to me very quickly and told me they will look into it. It is a WAY faster response than I am used to getting on their forums.
Your comment does make sense and it clarifies what they told me too. They acknowledged the issue and said they got HRV one day and Sleep the other. I missed the subtext that there are two competing messages (one for Sleep and one for HRV), but I think you’re absolutely right. Hopefully they code a solution soon. I’m still waiting for their final response.
Just heard back from them and they think they have fixed the dual feed issue. I will check in the morning and report back.
Hi everyone - just to confirm, sleep and hrv both came across from Connect this morning. I am now able to use the app and it is pulling in all 4 data points and giving me the Optimize score.
Did you take the plunge on the yearly sub?
is it free to use without subscribing? or is there an upfront cost? thanks
The OTS score is free, although I remember reading something about a one week trial when I signed in to the app? Sorry I can’t check, I deleted it within a day after deciding not to use it. Anyone been using it for over a week without a subscription?
I’ve been using Optimize app for exactly 2 weeks now. Trial mode as far as I can tell - if I look at a training plan it has the call to action “The First 14 days Free” and “Subscribe Now” button.
Not surprisingly, as I’m at the end of 14 days the app is still pulling in Garmin rides and giving an OTS score. I can definitely see a difference in OTS and TSS scores.
Still seeing an Optimize score based on yesterday’s OTS and Load.
I do NOT have a supported wearable to feed the app sleep/HRV. So the app is only using yesterday’s OTS and Load to calculate Optimize score for today.
Looked at App Store and I installed it on November 1st. However it took over a week before it would read Garmin workouts. Best guess Optimize app has been pulling Garmin workouts for 17 days now (from a post above).
Still seeing an Optimize score and after a 3 day block this week it has me at 121 just over the borderline and to focus on recovery and keep following the plan. Today is a rest day with some off-the-bike core/strength maintenance work.
how does that compare to your current CTL and form in TP?
I dunno. Its in trial mode, and only has a short history of workouts. I’m looking at something else over the next week or two - curious about OTS vs TSS.
Is anyone using the app and NOT using the FasCat library? I keep getting 0.0 OTS scores (the value on the bottom left, not the overall Optimize score) and I’m not sure if that’s because something is wrong or because I’m not on a FasCat plan. It makes sense to get a 0 after a rest day, but I THINK it SHOULD be pulling my OTS from workouts that are in Garmin Connect, but wondering if you only get that value if you are using a FC plan.
I’m doing the opposite. I’m using the library (16 Weeks of Sweet Spot) but at this point I’m not paying any attention at all to the app or OTS score since there doesn’t seem to be any history or context. I dual record sometimes (aka when I remember) in Garmin and Zwift, so it’s also pulling in both records with no way to delete one, or even click on it for more info.
I’ve had pretty good experiences with Fascat plans in the past so I figured I’d give it a try at the Black Friday price. The efforts tend to be a bit more steady state, so I’ve been using them in Zwift in SIM mode rather than being locked in ERG, and I’m finding that kinda refreshing; feels more like real riding and less like a hamster wheel.
That said, Frank’s not exactly impressing in the customer service area.
He’s actually been helpful to me when I contact him in the app, but not in the forum.
Ah, ok. That’s good to know. I’ve been dragging my feet on reaching out because the issue is that chat doesn’t work on the Android app, so reporting through chat that chat doesn’t work is a bit of a Catch-22. I’ll need to do it on my iPad, but I hate typing on it so I haven’t bothered yet.
Below that is a table with dates. Try tapping a few dates and watch how all the numbers change on the chart.
The OTS score is calculated with a formula, just like TSS. Its based on your power data. The two formula are similar but different.
