Hi so I see that this has been asked a few times and the response vary to software issue been looked at to contact trainer road directly to just replace it. So I did a V02Max yesterday, during it I checked for an FTP update - it updated it by 1.5% (my FTP is pathetic so won’t publish it but it was relatively small increase) , at the end of the session I responded as moderate mainly because I think I could have done one more set of 8 VO2max efforts after which I accepted the adaptation without paying much attention to them
This somehow resulted in Trainerroad suggesting a level 10 anaerobic (my current anaerobic level is 4…) I tend to do ok with relatively short intervals of high intensity so initially I thought screw it I will just attempt it but then I saw that it is marked as not recommended…
Hey there @vrapan1, welcome to the forum!
Nice job on Acrodectes -1!
The reason you’re seeing an Anaerobic workout with such an unusual Workout Level is because we’re using a different tool to recommend VO2 Max and Anaerobic workouts in some cases. We’ve implemented this in TrainNow recently and have had really good success with it so far.
While some of these workouts might seem out of place, we actually think that they are the best workouts for you currently.
I’d recommend giving Garngoch a try on Thursday! Let me know how it goes!
Thanks will definitely give it a go then
so just finished it, was tough - and predictably so, the 2 min intervals were the toughest while the 30 second ones the easiest and the 1 min ones somewhere in between - it also suggested an AI FTP detection after I finished it which is the first time this happens and added an extra 2% to my FTP on top of the 1.5% from Tuesday. Not so sure what to make of it all I think the proof will be in the pudding ie how the rest of the training sessions will appear as it did update a few of the follow up ones.
So this is the second time I am doing Garngoch and I have noticed the exact same thing , just a bit more intense today - I did a few sets of legs yesterday at the gym so maybe that’s why not sure regardless - I find the two min intervals much tougher than the 1 min and 30 seconds to the point that I had to stop in the middle for 3-4 seconds on two of them. Is there something I need to train specifically to try and handle those better? Or should I just find replacements of those anaerobic workouts or is there some thing else at play?
Probably a combination of the higher FTP and the gym work on the day before the workout ( )
Given how close to completing it you got, I would either just carry on with the plan as set out by TR, or have another go at it next week (without the legs element of the gym session on the day before in any case).
