Non TR workouts and structure workouts with training plan

New to the platform. I have planned out my calendar with the races and have a training plan in place. I accomplish a virtual B race today. TR had recommended 2 hrs of Vo2 Max work yesterday. I did not accomplish and did leg openers instead. Not sure why that workout would be prescribed before a 2 hour race.

Another thing I have noticed is that my PL is dropping because of not accomplishing workouts in the required area in the last 2 weeks. “that was the note on the page” . I accomplish virtual racing 2 times a week. and have time in the zones. Is it because it not structured or not enough time in the zone, or both, ?

As mentioned, new to the platform and just want to make sure I’m not missing something important with scheduling races and training events.

Thanks,

Patrick

First thing to realise is that the levels are not a direct measure of performance - they are just an indicator of you progression along a plan.

So the rationale of them going down is because you haven’t done the TR structured training - it’s not necessarily trying to say you have become weaker.

What you will probably find is that your next TR selected workout will be at a difficultly that, once completed, your level will be back where you think it should be.

Me neither - that doesn’t sound right.

My understanding it that the workout before a B race should be replaced by an opener.

When you added the B race were you asked to adapt your plan? Or was the B race already there when the plan was created?

Kevin,

Thanks for the input. I’m “pretty sure” that I put it in well in advance and created the plan around it. It was a series that I was doing. All the other race events have been correct except this one. So I’m trying to figure out what I did that caused a glitch in the matrix. So for my clarity when you add a race that was not previous on the schedule you have to adapt a plan like creating it from the start? That might have been what happened. I added some other minor events that were not in the plan a week or so before and did not. I thought that the AI would pick it up when it does analyses after every workout. So looks like it’s user error. Thanks for the clarity on the PL also.

It’s been a while - but I think if you add a B race in to your calendar then you should then see a popup asking you if you want to adapt your plan.

You don’t (well shouldn’t have to) re create your plan from the start.

Just to confirm - did you add it as a “B Race” or a “Zwift Race” - I dont think TR treats Zwift races as an “Event” so the above doesn’t apply. If you want your plan to adapt you need to add it as a B race.

The initial races were B races and the others I added a week or so before the 2 hours of Vo2 max were B which should have been c. I think with a B race on Sunday and another on Tuesday was the issue. I will make sure any time I add a race that i go through the adapt process.

Thank you for the help

Patrick

It looks like all of your future events are built into your plan properly.
