Listened to a podcast about it with Iñigo San-Millán. Sounds like it could be quite interesting down the line, but very half-baked at the moment. Just total Fat and Carb kcal’s in a text box on workouts.
Carb g/hr would be more useful. If I take my 4hr 15min ride from Saturday and do there 50% and then 4cal per 1g carb would be
4046/2/4= 220g total
220/4.25 = 52g/hr carbs.
Seems low to me. Reckon I would bonk to be honest. The 50% Feels to big to me since we tend to miss a meal doing a long ride anyway (lunch).
“Do I need to eat everything I burn? No. A common recommendation is to replace ~50% during the ride and top up after.”
Did you burn 2023 calories in carbs, or are you assuming 50%? He isn’t saying to replace 50% of total calories in carbs, but 50% of the calculated carb expenditure (could be more or less than 50% of total calories).
Also in your example it would be 505g total, not 220g. Unless I’m not following the math logic.
No idea what I was thinking or even doing yesterday. “4046/2/4 = 220g” is obviously wrong ![]()
You are right, should be 505g total or 117g/hr which sounds a lot more like what I do.
Does seem odd that it thinks pretty much no fat burning at 0.73 IF.
I tried it today and checked some completed and planned workouts and it says I’m basically just burning carbs, even recovery rides and low zone 2. Doesn’t feel right, but I have no clue.
Looking at this picture, where it says you burn more fat than carbs at low power outputs, puzzles me when I see my recovery ride at 48% ftp for 60 minutes is planned to use 446 carb calories and 238 fat calories.
