I have had no weeping issues with the Addix version using Hutchinson sealant. Also no punctures that didn’t self seal except for one large nail that went in the tread and out the sidewall which I had to patch. Not so many small cuts as the old version. I bit quieter too - the old ones made a bit of tyre roar just rolling along especially when going hard. Very easy to put on Enve wheels. Sometimes a bit hard to get off when new due to the high bead lock on 4.3AR.
My only slight concern is wearing through the rear tread in 4000km. I may have locked the rear once or twice but no more than that. I will continue to use because Enve doesn’t recommend Conti 5000TL on 4.5AR. Also I suspect getting Contis on and off will be harder.
I have close to 2,000km on a set of Schwalbe Pro One. Their definition of “Tubeless Easy” is different than mine as they are quite tough to set the bead even using an Airshot canister. One of my tires weeps quite a bit, the other not at all. I’ve never had a flat on either. I had a thorn stuck in the tread one time that I pulled out and the sealant quickly filled in the small hole.
Enve did not (and does not) recommend the 5000TL but the new GP5000 S TR is approved so I might give those a go next time, but I’d also consider mounting these up again.
The TT tire has a 1.6mm tread thickness and a very low 24 puncture score on BRR… not something I’d consider using outside of a specific event. The regular Pro One Addix is between the 5000TL and S TR in terms of thickness and puncture resistance. The 5000TL is the thickest AND fastest… have your cake and eat it too but not on Enves.
I’ll just chime in here, I had a heck of a time getting one of my Schwalbes to mount up, the other went on first try. For me, I re-wrapped the tape on the bad wheel and it seated up first time. Loaded sealant, took them for a ride, and they’ve been great ever since.
It was my first road tubeless setup, and thus far happy with the Schwalbes. I’m switching to Pirelli Cinturato 25/28 for my offseason training - roll slower but bombproof. We’ll see how much life the Schwalbes have left by then to see if I’ll switch next race season. So far I’m about 400km in and no issues on the road.
I’m keen to try the Pirelli PZero Race TL that I can get at the store down the street at a good price. Teammates use them and love them. I have Conti experience, but not with Pirelli yet. These are my training/backup racing wheels. Haven’t converted the race set to tubeless yet, but thinking I might go full tubeless soon on all three wheelsets I have.
