Longtime structured trainer user here (also racing at junior national triathlon level). One gap I kept hitting: my indoor FTP-based execution is dialed in, but translating that same wattage discipline into an actual outdoor race - adrenaline, crowds, hills - is a completely different problem. Very easy to drift well off target without a clear real-time signal telling you so.
Built a free Garmin Connect IQ data field called WattPace to close that gap: your screen turns red/green/blue depending on whether you’re over, on, or under your FTP-based target for the race distance you’re doing (sensitivity adjustable ±10-30W), plus a HR-gated fueling alert on a timer of your choice.
Not affiliated with TrainerRoad, just sharing since this crowd is more FTP-literate than almost anywhere else and I’d value blunt feedback on whether the pacing percentages I’m using (95% TT/crit, 87% Olympic, 80% 70.3, 72% full) actually hold up for people who’ve raced these distances.
