New Feature - TrainNow

Those words only show up for people in the AT beta.

It wouldn’t really mark you down, but if you kept at that level you’d eventually ā€œdegradeā€ down to that level of endurance.

Possibly off topic but tempo is generally the thing that I find missing the most with TR. There are relatively few workouts in the library with tempo intervals, particularly in the 1-2.5h workout duration range. And I don’t think there’s an obvious way to do a progression without making your own workouts.

I used TrainNow for today’s workout, but didn’t get asked how I felt after I finished. Is that question only in the AT Beta for now?

Yes.

@Nate_Pearson
How often does the TN feature update workout suggestions?
Does TN update the suggested workouts immediately after uploading a new completed WO?

I guess I’m really asking what the ā€œrefreshā€ rate is on the platform, and if it uses a static recovery/decay rate?

Asking for a friend who wants to add a ride in the morning.

Can anyone tell me: If you aren’t in the AT beta group, does TrainNow actually use your workout history when making suggestions, or does it just pick random workouts from the assigned categories?

I can assure you that I’m not in the AT beta group.

Scroll up several posts to see my screen shots of suggested TN workouts that changed depending on my WO history.
IME, the WO variations only started to become obvious as I neared the end of my ā€œrecoveryā€ week. Prior to that, the day to day changes had been minor.

PS: My outdoor (Non TR) rides did nothing AFAIK. Not that I was expecting them to do anything at this stage.

It seems to be based on workout history and not be random.

Yes and only TR workout history. All outdoor rides and zwift, fulgaz, xert workouts etc are not used to determine the recommended workouts which makes it useless as it currently stands unless your following only TR workouts.

I can totally understand the outdoor ride thing as that isnt ā€œownedā€ by anyone but it is rather unreasonable to suggest that a feature is ā€œuselessā€ simply because it doesnt take into account competitors offerings.

Not at all. All imported rides need to be included or tge recommended workouts will not be suitably recommended for you.

TR syncs ALL rides from strava etc into your TR calendar. Why would it only assess TR workout power data etc for giving you a recommended workout. This is a huge gap.

As much as I understand that, it is not unreasonable for a service to include only their own ecosystem in their offering. Nor does it make the offering ā€œuselessā€. I would suggest that if a user wants to jump around platforms then they do so at their own discrecion and should understand that none of the offerings will be optimised.

You know they (TR) are going to include Outside Non TR rides right ?
TR wants and needs a complete picture of your fitness and your ride history to adapt your future training.
This will be implemented in the near future.

Totally random TN suggestion as current.

1:45 minutes of endurance or easy-ish SS. No VO2 at that interval.
I understand how difficult it is to suggest length of sessions. :exploding_head:

Fun things to come IMO.

Hence the original response said I get the outdoor part, that should completely be included because riding bikes outside is a thing. It was the other part that I was really talking about. For TR to HAVE to include workouts from other platforms or else the service is ā€œuselessā€.

Granted the solution that solves the outdoor problem might well solve the others but saying that because you work out over multiple platforms the fact that TR doesnt (at this point) take them into account makes the offering useless is a completely different affair. Yeah, it wont be anywhere near optomised but you dont walk into a cafe having had dinner at a restaurant and call their food useless because you already ate.

It is a great feature but you cant judge a company for including only their own products in their own product.

You’re just being silly now. Are you a TR employee

No. Apart from the obvious food related statement which I’ll admit was silly but often is a good way to colour a point, can you explain where I’m being silly? If it was just the food thing then OK!
