Heard an interesting rumor today. Enve has a new MOG ready. Seems that the delay is that the current model keeps selling very well. Allegedly the new model is a race oriented version.
The MOG is probably the best do it all bike out there. Ask any owner, they all love it. However, the Crux 5 is objectively better now, I think if they can match the aero and the weight and keeping the ride feel, that would hit the jackpot.
Will it be stiffer too? There’s always a new bike coming.

Maybe bump up tire clearance and potentially ditch 2x. The fray is more due for an update imo, not sure what the market is these days for a gravel bike that takes 40’s. An aero mog just sounds like an updated fray, so I guess that could make sense if they want to focus on one bike and ditch the 2 bike strategy. But if doing 2 gravel bikes, I think it’s a mistake not to support big tire clearance on one of them.
They don’t market the Fray as a gravel bike. It is their all road bike. Mog is their only gravel bike.
My bad, I thought it was originally positioned as a gravel bike. I guess if they are going to stay with a single gravel bike and they feel it’s important to keep 2x, the current tire clearance is a decent trade off. Would an increase in tire clearance and dropping 2x result in more sales? I’d bet the answer is yes, but I honestly don’t know. Keeping 2x with decent 50mm clearance might be a nice niche when a lot of bikes are going 1x only. But an aero 1x mog with big tire clearance and downtube storage sounds pretty good to me.

Not sure how much say he has, but 100%. But he actually ran 1x at some recent races now that shimano has a decent solution.
I think I recall someone launching a bike earlier this year with big tire clearance and 2x support. You can’t run that combo together, but seems like a good solution so you aren’t excluding the 2x fans. I’m not sure what the design tradeoffs are to do that besides the weight of adding fd hanger. I see so few people running 2x at gravel races these days that I’m not sure it’s a market that matters, but maybe it’s different in other regions.
I hadn’t heard about the Mog but did see some posts on Weight Weenies about the Melee being updated. I wouldn’t mind a Mog if it meant the current gen would go on clearance.

Given the above release dates it does seem like the Mog and Melee might be “due” if going off the timelines of other brands to other brands (ie Specialized updates the Tarmac and very 3 years)
they have a new Melee ready that’s coming out in a few days I’ve heard. Of course they are all working on something, but at this point what exactly does the MOG need? I guess we could claim a 55-57mm clearance, and a suspension corrected geometer with a shorter headtube, other that that it feels super dialed and up to Today’s standards. Would they remove the fork mounts and fender mounts? maybe, maybe not, not exactly sure how many people use the MOG as an adventure bike, I like the braze-on mount is removable, so not much of a reason to remove imho.
The Melee really is what is kinda of weird right now they have an endurance bike as well but their “race” bike has fender mounts 
Less weight, More Aero
Any current gravel bike has wind tunnel data published or it’s all speculation?
guess until we see the new Factor based on the Factor One and the Ridley, is there any aero gravel bike? We havent seen any numbers for any gravel bike so far that I know of, I don’t see much of a point for “looks aero” without real wind tunnel data.
As a current MOG owner, more aero or less weight are just nice-to-have’s. Sure, they’re always great, but neither are something that would make me upgrade. Especially as with both there’s a good chance neither would make any practical difference whatsoever.
More tire clearance while maintaining the current characteristics of the bike would be interesting though.

Cyclingnews did a Gravel Aero Test. But you need to be a member to see.
The big question is if Enve would get rid of the adventure stuff, fork mount, fender, etc. this could help save some weight, would they get rid of support for a dropper and use the same seatpost as the Melee / Fray, I guess they go together if you remove the “adventure / backcountry” support you could remove the dropper as well.
Make it suspension adjusted geometry which the MOG currently isn’t and bump the clearance to 55 / 57mm.
All that while potentially making it a bit lighter. I guess when we see what they were able to do with the Melee we will have an idea what they would be able to do with the MOG.
