Hi TR peeps. This isn’t a huge deal, and I imagine i’m not the only one experiencing it, but as I keep running into my SS workouts the AI literally is dealing me the same workout all the time. I swear it absolutely fucking loves Eichorn +1 because it scheduled it for me today, it did it last week, I am almost certain it did it a couple of times over the last month or so, and currently it’s what it has on the calendar for NEXT week too.
I know it’s working to help me be better, and I have just been switching it to alternates, but like why can’t i have a 4 by X workout instead of a 2x. Or some other type of setup. It just gets so routine and boring to do the same structure (~20 min SS) over and over and over, which is the advantage of TRs library.
Anyway, just thought I’d give this little piece of feedback. Thanks for the hard work!
I completely agree. I also use workout alternatives just to mix things up. I also swap out workouts that are just 20+ minute sweet spot intervals at the exact same power. Even slight variations help mix things up and make the workout more palatable mentally.
I have found the same thing. Same workouts keep getting scheduled and when using the workout alternatives it’s the same alternatives that are popping up. A number of times I’ve ended up searching in the library and finding a workout, adding it to the calendar, and deleting the planned workout just to have some variety. Less than ideal for sure
I hadn’t even considered the workout alternatives being the same but I’m not surprised it’s not dolling out anything different there either since the same workout is going to have the same ‘similar’ alternatives to doll out to you.
Definitely would like the AI to be a little bit ‘looser’ with its suggestions to keep things fresh, that was always why I liked TR workouts over building my own workouts because everything I build is always the same block structure, even if it works. Same analogy to eating chicken and rice all the time. I might get ripped doing it but it’s unbelievably dull and its unnecessary to torture yourself to see gains!
I was having a similar issue with Bounty (2 hours O/Us). I would complete it fine (Hard). Next week’s O/U workout would be something harder, as expected. But then as complete a VO2max workout (Very Hard) and a hard group ride (Hard), the O/U workout would go back to Bounty. I just changed the duration to get something else.
I will take this feedback to the team It’s not a new thing we’ve heard, but it helps when the masses speak.
In short, the system looks for the best possible workout at that given time and sometimes it causes the same workout to be recommended multiple times in a row.
Can we PLEASE find an alternative to James? I have had it every single week for years. I get it that it’s probably the best for the time, but even if the power were undulating, it would be more bearable than looking at an 85 minute countdown for your interval >.<
Ha! I have the exact same feeling about James. I’ve started replacing high-end endurance rides like James with lower end Tempo rides, which helps with some variety.
Alternatively you can select an undulating endurance ride that maybe would be easier Workout Level and TSS/IF… but then bump the power % up by a few percent to get it to modulate around the power of James, Margarita, Walker, or any of the other long steady single power interval workouts.
I really dislike the monotony of James but love the result of that effort over time. Do you find the Tempo workouts give you the same result without creating undue fatigue?
I quite like when I get the same workout (as long as its not too often) as it gives me something to gauge against and its a confidence thing known that I’ve bet it before. I was looking forward to my last VO2max workout which was going to be the same as before (Grassy Ridge-2) but on the day of the workout, it adapted out
