Minimum equipment I'd need to access all TR features and what am I missing?

I have one bike, a Crux, with a quarq spider power meter. I have a Peloton Bike+…workouts are sync’d as a spoofed Tacx workout in Garmin.

TR can’t use the sync’d garmin workouts for the features like AI FTP. Nor can it use outdoor workouts (like garmin + my crux outdoors).

What I’m wondering is…

  • Besides AI FTP, am I missing any other features by not doing the TR workouts using the app?
  • Would a dumb trainer with my Crux gain access to all TR features or do I need more for full support?

Aside from AI FTP Detection, you should still be benefitting from all of TR’s other features. Red Light Green Light and Adaptive Training will still function with workouts marked as Outside Workouts.

A normal/dumb trainer with your Crux would allow you to use the TR app to do your workouts inside and would thus count towards your 10 indoor TR rides needed for AI FTP Detection.

Hope that helps – let us know if you have any other questions!

Yes, it can. All rides, indoors and outdoors, are used to determine your FTP. If you pretend to do an outside workout on your Peloton, then it will show up as completed, but the actual data is not analyzed for Adaptive Training.

Edit: I forgot the requirement that you must have completed 10 indoor workouts. Sorry, my bad, you are right, AI FTP won’t work.

Ok, cool. I think I can roll without the AI FTP for a while.

I do like the prompt and graphics better on the App than on the workouts exported to garmin. But I might be able to use the app, but cancel it at the end then sync.
