Yeah I dont follow the plan as they have never had a 4 day option. They have always said take LV and add a workout or take MV and drop the easiest. I did this the last two years and still get run down following their plan. It is definitely my own issues of riding and my own stress from work. And yes I dont trust the system…it doesnt know what it isnt told.
Good news. Maybe.
Polarised build is 4 days per week. 1 VO2 max. 1 Threshold. 2 Endurance.
Where are you seeing Pol Build at 4 days? I’m not seeing that when I look at the dropdown options for the build segment on my PB plan on the calendar. Shows 2 endurance, and one intensity.
you have to select it from the Pol plan options, and for that you have to select experimental beta options in your profile. Pol plans dont appear in Plan Builder as they’re still classed as experimental by TR
… and 4 days is Polarised Build Mid Volume
Ah, that’s what I was missing. Had all the other parts figured out as that’s how I did Exp Pol LV for base 1 and base 2. When I originally built the plan there was no Exp Pol build. And somehow I was thinking you wrote LV was 4 workouts/week.
I often swap the long treshhold workouts for longer tempo/ endurance rides. Thats not so hard. And makes more fun.
Thanks. Will check out that workout.
Thanks for the reply. Good advice.
Thanks. Sounds like a plan I will look into.
Sounds great. Thanks for the suggestions.
I’d highly recommend that you read Joe Friel’s book “Fast after 50”.
At the root of it he recommends 1x vo2max session, 1x sweetspot session and 1x Long Endurance Ride per week. Filled in with a couple of z2 rides. His book gives detailed recommendations of interval durations too.
Personally if I were you I would look into Traditional Base plans. I have used them in the past and they are pretty great. LV3 is 4 workouts but my personal favorite is MV2 but I like more endurance style rides. I am adding that one to my calendar as I need a little more structure for the next couple of months.
They are forgotten by a lot of people which is interesting as I think they could work well for a lot of people. There are some levels though that are pretty mundane with the same workout each day. Some of them might look easy but they definitively can push you, especially when you get to MV3 and above.
I get what your saying but for AT to manage my ftp I am not picking a plan type as I use Plan builder and tweak away
Good luck on your journey. I am not too fussed on the whole FTP number as it is not very flexible as I would like because I know my strengths/weaknesses and I believe 1 arbitrary number not is good for all workout types. It has gotten better with the model being implemented though.
Not trying to get into a back and forth it is just my view on it.
