Let's Talk Socks

Swiftwick definitely makes a great sock. I’ve been very happy with Rapha socks too. The lightweight ones are a little shorter than I prefer, but are very light and dont bunch or move. Perfect for the trainer.

I’m surprised no one from Southern California has plugged Forze socks. They’re much stretchier than any sock I’ve tried - I used to really like the Ridge Supply Defeet style until I tried these. These are my absolute faves, especially once you get away from the crazier designs

I love Endur apparel socks. I have been a fan of the Defeet Aerators but I find these socks brings my sock game to another level. Match these socks to your favorite jersey and your set!

I like the quality of them as well.

Which one do you prefer?

I prefer Rapha to swiftwick because I live where it’s hot and they are thinner, but strong. Swiftwick is thicker and provides more compression. Both make great socks.

Well I did say I’d report back (it’s been almost a year) on the Silverlight socks and can say they are excellent socks, not do I use them for hiking but running and cycling.

They never stink, that silver yarn is a game changer there… and agree with the Silky smooth compression. I have brought 5 pairs but still have two unopened. Have binned all my cotton socks and only occasionally go for my full Merino socks. These are my go to socks. Understand from the founder that he is looking at adding different colours and eventually the plan is to branch out into base layers.

I’m quite surprised at the amount of ankle socks on here.

The main reason I wear high/colourful socks is vanity (same for most people I’m sure). Because I am very tall (91cm inside leg), no matter how much muscle I put on in my legs I always look gangly AF. Longer socks (up to the bottom of my calves) help to break that up and distract people the unnatural amount of leg.

To the original point, my wife bought me some Pongo socks and I have found myself buying more of them. They are very elastic and hug the leg well so you barely even notice you’re wearing socks, they also have a great range of designs so you can find something horrendously gauche like the ones I like to wear, or something a lot more subtle.

£17 for a single pair of socks does seem pretty insane though and my teenage self who grew up in poverty would be very disappointed in me and think (know?) I’m a complete prick for spending that much when you can get a 5 pack of cotton socks for £3.99 at a factory outlet.

Rapha PT socks for me. I have got the merino ones as well from Rapha and they are nice to just lounge around and don’t ever stink because they are 100% merino.

Anybody use Nologo socks? Simple and basic. Lots of colors. Not a terrible price. Just curious about their sizing. I’m a 45 and they offer 42-44 or 45-47. Just wondering how true to size they are. I hate big socks that I have to pull tight and the heel cup is up my calf. And since I’m at the low end of the sizing I might try sizing smaller.

Any recommendations for socks with thick padding, similar to Thorlo Maximum Cushion, preferably in bright colors? Thanks!

thanks - just ordered - what a great deal! Thanks for the heads up!!

It looks like Pongo has died? (Rebranded Bissini, which now goes nowhere?) I am beyond sad. Anyone have opinions on the closest replacement? I love them so much. :sob:
