Let's Talk Socks

Swift wick Aspire 7”

I’ll second this. Great socks. The swiftwick pursuit 7 are also great socks. Aspire is poly and Pursuit is merino.

Swiftwick :grinning:

Rapha pro team (long) just feel amazing - soft, breathable, subtle branding, correct length. Also like Sock Guy SGX for a plethora of “personality-display” socks.

incyclence has some really cool styles (shipping from Germany)

+1 for Rapha pro team

I bought some Rapha socks. They’re nice, but way too short. Didn’t realize there was a “long” option. Thanks for the tip.

There’s a short one, a standard one, and a long one. You must have the short one, because the standard is deffo on the longer side.

I’ve just picked up my first few pairs of Rapha socks too, and I think they’re great. The merino ones are so comfortable that I can’t even feel them after a few minutes, and the non-merino ones aren’t far behind at all. Definitely my go-to choice for socks now (well, during the sales).
I also really like some of POC’s socks, and DHB do great pair of winter socks.
I have a couple of pairs of extra thick merino socks from Kalf, and those are fantastic when it’s reeeeally cold.

I just checked. It’s odd that Rapha doesn’t list cuff length on their website. I bought 3 pairs on sale in the Boulder store. The ones I have worn are 5”. They feel good, but are a little short. I have 2 more pairs I never took off the packaging because i intended to sell them, but i just checked and they are both 7”! I’ll be wearing those tonight

Thanks for the push to check. Apparently I accidentally got one pair that is short!

Short ones for the trainer, long ones for outdoors

But what if someone sees you on the trainer?! :persevere:

Ditto, ordered a bunch and I’m delighted with them. Great choice!

Shimano sphyre. I’ve tried all the other brands, and they’re okay but the sphyre are 3 steps above. Best part is they have a little padding on top of the foot so you can really crank down your boa without hurting your feet.

Swiftwick Aspire 7”. :ok_hand:

Most socks for cycling, e.g. Swiftwick, I tried do not have enough padding on the bottom and I feel it on long rides with stiff road shoes. However, I’ve found deFeet Cyclismo pretty good. Apparently, Cyclismo was originally made under the direction of a World and Olympic Road Race champion who wanted some cushion under the ball of the foot. I have a low volume foot, so the fit is great for me.

Handlebar Mustache makes great socks. They’ve got tons of designs and colors to match any kit. They’re also super comfortable!

I’m 99.9% sure those are made by Defeet, they’re essentially Aireator socks. Even the material % breakdown is the same.

I think you’re correct. Comparing the two, they look very much alike. I’ll spend the extra couple of bucks per pair to support a small business though.

True, though I would argue that Defeet is also a relatively small business, and they produce their products in the USA according to their webpage History – DeFeet Can’t go wrong either way though. Edit: just wanted to say that the Aireator socks I have are definitely my favorite. Been meaning to put in an order big enough to make the shipping to Germany worthwhile.

Rapha Pro Team in regular size…only socks i have! good length and they’re comfy.

I’m on the hunt for some new socks and figured I could try the Swiftwick Aspire. Although I’m curious if the current 25% off for 4 is a good/normal deal or should I jump on it?

Cheers
