Lets talk Chinese carbon wheels

  • Lightbicycle and Nextie are two of the biggest dealers and they have the bonus to customize (ie chosing your own hubs, spokes, etc). This is why I went this route as I wanted a higher quality hub than what many brands offer.
  • Farsports/Wheelsfar and is another reputable brand that has done a lot of business and has lots of reviews/experience from people out there. Farsports is their pre-built shop while Wheelsfar lets you customize things like the two brands above.
  • CRW Works (via panda podium) have lots of good reviews on weight weenies.
  • Elite Wheels Drive are good specs for the money and seem to come with good reviews
  • Winspeace Lun Hyper D45 (and their other offerings) is recommended by a lot of youtube personalities and have been a popular for years. But they are using a rim width which is pretty dated IMO.

I personally wouldn’t bother with anything other than those listed above. I am sure there are other brands that are fine, but I don’t think they offer anything appreciably better or cheaper than what you would get from the above brands. Just more of the same which will cause analysis paralysis and decision fatigue.

For what it’s worth after spending far too many hours reading reviews, making excel spreadsheets, and weighing pros and cons, looking at pictures, etc; I ended up buying a set of Light Bicycle wheels last spring. Airia 52 rim (with a solid rim bed) plus CX-ray spokes and DT Swiss 240 hubs. It was kind of a long wait time (which I think was partially due to the popularity of the rim when it first came out). But they have been good wheels so far.
