Where is this? NZ?

Super low-tech setup in one of the rooms of my flat which I am currently redoing. Still, lots and lots of pain going on here :joy:

Here my Pain cave:

  • Bike S-Works Allez
  • Powermeter: Favero Assioma Duo
  • 1st Screen: 40’’ TV
  • 2nd Screen: 24’’ IPS- PC-Screen

I’ve already planned to improve it with a table.
Unfortunately in Italy, I don’t find the Lasko fans, so I’m using 2 normal fans. The ventilation is ok but not super.

Yeah, that’s partly b/c I’m just heading to the basement more consistently after an icy crash and looking for some inspirations to change up my space.

It puts the lotion on, or it gets the hose again.

Here is my setup.

Finally about 90% done. Need to still improve air flow and finish the flooring.

Trainer set up, HIIT on Airdyne and rack with conventional, hex and safety squat bars. Trumps any gym in my town.

Love the vibe of this room? Where did you get the desk and white cabinets?

This is my favourite thread by far on this forum!! Great paincaves and lots of ideas and inspiration.

This thread is just as much about pain cave display, as it is pain cave ideas. I thought I’d share some extra photos of mine highlighting some details that I have found worthwhile since my training space has evolved from a dorm stairwell to what I have today.

The window in front of the bike is usually opened a crack to allow fresh air inside. The wife appreciates this, and in the winter, the cold air is awesomeness.

The couch/futon replaced a smith machine. Instead of the smith machine, I have dumbbells, and a TRX thingy that connects to the hook in the ceiling. Futon is nice for napping, when escaping drama of teenagers. Wall magazine rack holds outdated issues of Triathlete and bicycling magazine. Since I can never bring myself to throw them away…

Bike rack for the trusty ‘87 Cannondale SR500. Holds two bikes, and also functions as a drying rack for Lycra, tech shirts/shorts, and head/wrist sweatbands.

Gotta have someplace nearby for your tools. The charging station on this Kobalt workbench is nice to have. Keep iPhones, iPads, iPods, Bluetooth headphones charged. Also keep your electronics away from teenagers.

Turntable and receiver hooked up to large ‘90’s era tower speakers that wife always wanted me to get rid of. When she and the kids are gone, it’s nice to crank them, while on the trainer. Doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s majestic. Our kids only know music through headphones. Poor babies.

Adequate storage for towels, DVD’s, headphones, ANT+ adaptors, gels, figs, dates. Also, have access to streaming services, DVDs, and regular cable. Wish list includes Lasko fans, remotes for said fans, and a better table for remotes, snacks next to the bike.

Something happened and the photos say “Uploading:”

I am looking forward to seeing that bike. I had a '90 one. Snapped it through the weld when me and a car T-boned. Still have part of it for wall art.

fixed the post. mine has been rebuilt after stripping it, and powder coating it matte black. All original, except saddle, stem (had to cut to get it out of headset tube),and pedals.

I was looking for something to do with my extra mountain bike (the 26er finally fell out of use, but I was too emotionally attached to get rid of it). Add a 26" hybrid tire, and it now lives full-time on the stationary trainer. Since my better half also likes to ride it when she works out, I kept the dropper post on it so I can dial the setup in for me, and then she can use the dropper to get the saddle height right for her. It’s become a pretty fun little space as we’ve grown and evolved what we have down there. Definitely a big fan of the kettlebells for strength work.

Nice! I put STI on it when it came out. Worked until they were slammed into the side of the car.

Still use the exact same saddle type now as I did then. It just works!

It’s expensive but in a clean setup a wahoo headwind makes the same as a lasko and it’s much more clean looking and if you enjoy it like I do you set it to work the power of the wind accordingly to your HR and that for me is awesome.

They’re both from Ikea. Since we’re short on space, the cabinets are actually bathroom cabinets which aren’t very deep (GODMORGON High cabinet, Resjön white), and the desk is a child’s desk on risers (PÅHL desk). The shelves above the desk are floating shelves from Home Depot in a light wood color. I could probably dig up the wall paint color code too if you’re interested.
