Hey, I didn’t actually quote you directly… ![]()
I have now done this. Sadly the velodrome was thick with joggers (who have an entire park to run in which is right next to the velodrome and doesn’t have cyclists hurtling around it at 30km/h+ but I guess some people just have to run in almost-circles). I got a decent ride in though even if I did have to keep closing the gates on every lap…
Even managed a quick video when it was reasonably safe. Obviously my position sucks more than usual here as I’m holding a camera and maintaining extra vigilance for pedestrians and their pets

Handling was fine. Felt stable in crosswinds but perhaps that’s unsurprising given the shallow rims on there now. One thing tripped me up though that I didn’t expect but seems obvious in retrospect is toe overlap! There’s a lot of toe overlap potential with the front “fork” ![]()
Emphasis fairly important given the number of top riders that it isn’t faster for as they don’t utilise, both tri : jan frodeno, sebastian kienle, cam wurf etc. and pro-tour martin, dowsett, cancellara and so on.
It was second hand, but free. It’s nothing fancy, I think it’s a 2006, but it’s so much fun to ride, and I love the color!
This last weekend was my first event post lockdown. This was the local 8 mile double turn around TT series I do with @Joe
Compared to the previous event I was able to go a couple seconds quicker with an avg speed of 28.3mph@329w. It was nice to know I’m staying consistent even though the conditions were different. I tried my new bar setup and was happy I didn’t lose anytime although I found it hard to keep my hands up due to the flat arm pads. I’m currently in the process of trying to integrate some backed/angled pads to help me secure my fit. Once I dial the fit, I think I need to try some different helmet setups. I will try to borrow or obtain a a Giro Aerohead and a couple others and do some testing as I’m still chasing the elusive (for me) 29mph avg.
@Power13 Any input?
Here is a photo from the event.

Look pretty good. It might be slightly faster if instead of gripping the extensions you overlay your hands and place them on top the the extensions. That way the extensions would essentially be blocking the wind from seeing your hands. The downside of this method is it can block you from seeing your computer depending on its placement.
Right on, thanks! Once I secure a better pad setup that can help me lock my lower arms/elbows in, I think I can more easily go higher with the hands.

Where are you based? I have the same elbow issue so going to get these - WattShop Anemoi Carbon Arm Rests
UK based though.
Those look nice although I’m going after the closed back cups so I can rest my elbows. I’m trying to get Alden carbon to make me a setup although he has been busy. Another option is Revolver Wheels out of the UK.

Yeah, I’d have got the TriRig ones with some shims but they are nearly £200 by the time I get them from US to UK.

Looks good…and the data shows you are fast!! I’d still love to see you squeeze out a bit more reach, but don’t think that is possible with your setup.
The angled cups should give you more upper body support, which will allow you to collapse your shoulders more and drop even a bit lower.
You are freaking fast!! I wish I had your speed!
I had a 2004 model until I upgraded. It got the job done, few top tens and a podium at local tris.
You need to steal the pink socks from that guy who overtook you to complete your outfit ![]()
Have to say that is a crazy looking bike, seen one in a bike shop before but never in action
I am quite a broad rider. I was advised to get a skinsuit (Nopinz) that was designed for really fast people because it would work well with my Meso body shape, even though my speeds are nowhere near the Marcin’s of this world. I suspect the effect or wide and narrow wlbows and high and low hands is similar.
Bearing in mind I have heard some people see improvements in aero, when they have a Camelback bag under their stomach. So I suspect this is far moce complex than… do this it should work for everyone.
Right, there are few if any absolutes in aero (and for the record, I never claimed otherwise).
Didn’t think you were suggesting as such @mcneese.chad . This aero thing is complex
and I think that is almost part of the fun - otherwise we would all have perfect positions and no need to think about different kit etc.
Never thought I would be “that guy” owning “that bike” but eh, one silly deal and some transfer ownership of bikes and here I am. I posted this before but it took me a few months of riding on the trainer and getting a few bike fits before I chopped the seat-post and bars down; just in time for the 2020 race season…

Ya ya needs a rear disc. I know I know
Dream bike just arrived!
Having been looking at upgrading the Tri bike for a while and narrowed it down to a few options. Was looking for something with excellent integrated hydration/storage for long-distance tris and the Speedmax was one that kept cropping up. I contemplated going for something like the Felt IA for the disc brakes but ultimately decided to stick to rim as my road bike is still rim so lets me swap the wheels between etc.
This was also on the Canyon Outlet as a returned bike so had a pretty healthy discount on it. Did have a few nervous days where UPS said that they couldn’t find the parcel anywhere, remarkable when you see the size of the box! Eventually turned out it had been left in a van by a driver who wasn’t working for the few days when the bike disappeared.
In typical UK fashion, the weather turned from amazing to rain on the day that the bike arrived so going to wait for better days to get out and about on it! Squeezed in one small spin and it really felt like it was flying.
