Les Cringles du Ventoux

Great Dunn Fell - 7.4k at 8.4% (600+m of climbing) might be interesting. It’s beautiful and a great surface without cars. Not consistent and two gates to go through but that might be helpful for getting used to changes in pitch/pace.

Fab, thank you for this. Will check it out

She’ll probably drop me on my first ride lol

I have the crazy idea of doing this twice within 24 hours and not yet have a real idea how

Having done Ventoux three times in 5 years… In all seriousness, there’s a great ride doing the Blwch in Wales from 3 different directions. Total 1600m or so but good fun and a great intro to the concept.
As soon as I can figure out how to add an image I’ll upload a picture of the route. Highly recommended.

Agree with this, I did the Cingles in September a few years back. Started at about 7 degrees (c) at the bottom, the first summit was below freezing with ice on the roads. Coldest descent I think I’ve ever done. Second ascent was in mid-teens and fine. Final ascent we saw snow coming in at the top and the mistral was very much doing its afternoon thing, I did the first km down from the top with one foot unclipped.

Re training, agree completely re specificity. Getting fit through normal training is the first criteria, then using something like Zwift or a RLV (Tacx, Fulgaz, etc) to simulate actual climbs is handy and then get some long weekend rides in so you’ve replicated hours in the saddle.
