Legacy Pricing Update

That sounds great!

Adding to that, it would be good if you could have an anchor activity defined in your weekly calendar that the training plan works around.

In my case that is a Saturday group ride of 2-3 hours.

It may not be ideal for training, but it should be in the total TSS plan for the week, even if it is not a slot available for a workout.

my two cents on this…

I saw quite a few requests for this on this thread… if it was that easy and enough people wanted them I’m sure the team at TR would do this. I’m assuming it’s just not worth it for them. Reality is a company like TR has two main constraints… time and money. If I was them, I wouldn’t want to spend a minute on this unless it helped make more money which I doubt it would.

I’ll add mine too…why do we have so many “TR should sell kit” posts on a thread about legacy pricing? I mean…it’s a stretch, isn’t it?

Joe

Because OT trips in the TR forum are standard practice.

It amps up in the ones where Nate is directly involved & posting. The 3rd kicker here is that just about anytime service pricing is discussed, the “wish list” stuff comes out. The desire for TR kits, t-shirts and other swag are often parts of that list as seen in many of the prior topics parallel to this one.

Sorry, I haven’t read all the posts. Is that the new TR kit design?

Everyone wants TR gear until TR gear is available

Yes, please, just do it.
In my mind, this should be the default option if an athlete tells Plan Builder that they are very experienced with structured training or above (= the highest two levels of experience). In fact, TR should pick one of the options based on an athlete’s training history as a default and ask the athlete to confirm.

What works best for me right now is to

  1. pick days of intensity and
  2. pick the number of days I want to train, i. e. volume (for the lack of a better word).

Ideally, TR should make recommendations based on the athlete’s workout history. Your proposal sounds very good to me, provided it is tailored to an athlete. What is Progress for you is overkill for me or vice versa.

If possible, I’d also like to indicate how much time I can dedicate to training each day. E. g. my training schedule is shifted by one day, so the Saturday ride falls on Friday, etc. That means my Friday ride cannot be longer than 90 minutes, for example. I know you have mentioned this idea in past threads, but this is really something I’m clamoring for.

@Nate_Pearson responded that he didn’t think there was enough demand. I get that perspective. My thoughts were that spending a little time to approve one design for a few vendors that members can order from would provide solid marketing for TR. The only way to know for sure if people would buy cycling kits is to survey. A critical element would be that they have to either prepay if TR wanted a percentage or would have to go to the vendor directly with the approved design which pulls TR mostly out of the process. Perhaps this becomes a 2024 consideration :man_shrugging:t2:.

It is getting more difficult for me to ever get a subscription for TR. I tried it one month and I loved it but I have a bunch of autoimmune disorders and sometimes I deal with flares and I cannot keep a consistency in my training that justify to pay 189$/yr, especially for a Spaniard. I use my indoor bike mainly for health reasons and I like to have some kind of training plan to keep me motivated and focused but I will have to keep using other cheaper alternatives.

TR looks a great piece of software and the price is reasonable when you are getting those performance improvements. But I wish there were other price plans to try to reach a broader audience.

Anyway, great job and I still get a lot of value from TR from the forum and the podcasts!

:point_up:t4:

Do a survey, 1000 people say they want kit, 100 people actually put their money where their mouth is.

In that case, have a design on file people can order themselves. Take TR out of the process and then it’s a marketing opportunity, not a business line. TR members would have the opportunity to make a purchase, but wouldn’t have to make a purchase. As for the survey, yeah, I would assume you build your plan, if you went that route, with the assumption that only 25% of survey respondents will actually proceed. Again, don’t make this an immediate consideration, but a marketing opportunity for 2024 and beyond.

People have been asking for a TR store for years and TR doesn’t want to do it. We’ve all suggested different ways and different vendors, etc., but they don’t want to do it. I wish they would, but I can respect their decision and move on.

It’s actually refreshing to experience a company focusing on the core business instead of getting spread thin.

I don’t agree that it has to spread them thin, but I accept that they choose not to do it.

Hey does the 15% discount show on the account on the app, cause it’s showing the $189 for me

What you’re saying is the ideal vision IMO. It’s very much like a coach (in terms of scheduling).

“Hey, I can workout these days for this amount of time. Here are my goals. Btw, I’m going to fuck up and do way more and way less than this ALL THE TIME, please adjust it so it’s tailored exactly to my fitness, history, and power profile.

The crazy thing is I think we can do exactly this at scale, and pick better workouts than a coach would (or at least compared to the coaches that aren’t charging multiple thousand per month to really look at your history and daily rides).

To give you a sense…we have had over 25 million rides using the TR app!!!

We sold 40-60 kits last time we did it…

I totally respect why you guys don’t want to to this…and honestly, I would not get a kit. Other swag items, quite likely.

The only thing I would point out is that TR has grown substantially since the last time you guys did this…and if you did it how most teams do a team order (place orders and paid directly with the kit supplier), I think you may be surprised by the results. I’m sure you could even get someone on the forum to coordinate it, essentially making it a hands-off operation for you guys (other than approving the kit design).

Just something to think about.

We’ve done it…twice, actually. I think we made about $5k…off of about $70k in resources.
