Lauf freehub patent

This popped up in lauf fb group and I thought some here might be interested or have opinions.

I really like my lauf bikes but I’m not the type of rider who is super picky with individual components and certainly not at the freehub level.

It sounds interesting but me not being any sort of engineer I wouldn’t know if it’s a flawed idea.

Some of those pawls look frighteningly fragile.

Those pawls with the wave in them would eventually fail over time due to the stress they would be under whenever ridden. Yeah, I’m much more comfortable with the full width solidly reinforced teeth of the DT Swiss Ratchet system. Oh so much more confident in that system. And what stops the hub from eating those pawls when someone backpedals a lot?

Yeah, no. I’m no certified engineer, but I’m seeing pain in the future for that design.
