Kaitlin Armstrong Apprehended

Glad she was finally caught as well. What a sad story!

For those interested … Colin Strickland started posting on socials again. I forgot that I followed him on IG. He posted some cryptic pictures yesterday with the comments disabled. He has had changed his profile description to “I used to race bikes” but has since deleted that.

I’ll leave it to others to decipher this.

Really don’t want to sensationalize anything, but a long-form piece in The New Yorker is something noteworthy.

Superbly written article, thank you for sharing.

Certainly confirmed my belief that Strickland is a world-class a-hole (and I held that belief long before Mo was murdered)….but I do wish the article had spent more time talking about Mo, her accomplishments and what an amazing talent she was.

I also felt like they passed over the fact that Strickland bought the guns either after, or around the time, that Armstrong first threatened to kill Wilson.

I didn’t realize that RedBull kept him on as an athlete. I wonder if he still will go the annual RedBull camp and have to wonder how class acts like Rebecca Rusch and Kate Courtney would feel around him?

Not much new info here, but it gives a little insight into the blurry line between amateur cycling and the pro gravel thing. It’s really just a bunch of people riding bikes. While I think cycling tends to foster/attract some odd social behaviors, I don’t think that was a big contributor to the tragic outcome. I guess the article is more interesting with some of the cycling details, but this isn’t a cycling story. Unfortunately, the basic storyline is way to common, lots of contributing relationship stuff and someone loses their frickin mind for long enough to destroy a bunch of lives. Such a waste and unbelievably sad.

One of the things that struck me odd initially when this all went down was there didn’t seem to be a lot of warning signs that Kaitlin Armstrong could go out a kill someone. The previous press articles reported on her walking out and not paying for the spa treatment and then the New Yorker article made mention of some text messages that were sent to Mo to stay away from Strickland. One would think there is much more that has yet to be reported, or uncovered, in the months leading up to the murder and it will likely come out in the trial as the Prosecutor and the Defense attorneys shape their stories. The New Yorker pattern paints a pattern of behavior for Strickland but what really went on behind closed doors remains untold.

Well, she did threaten to kill her in a jealous rage the previous January…right around the time Strickland bought the guns.

I didn’t see that in the New Yorker article, but might have missed it. Do you know where that was reported?

It was in one of the affidavits that was released earlier…you can probably find it in some of the earlier articles.

I was surprised it was not mentioned in the NYer article.

ETA - It was an anonymous tip and referenced in the affidavit

They said: 'The caller advised she was with Armstrong in January 2022. The caller advised Armstrong had just discovered Strickland was having a romantic relationship with Wilson even though Armstrong and Strickland were still dating.

‘The caller advised Armstrong became furious and was shaking with anger. Armstrong told the caller Armstrong was so angry Armstrong wanted to kill Wilson.’

The affidavit added that ‘Armstrong then proceeded to tell the caller Armstrong had either recently purchased a firearm or was going to.’

If only this story wasn’t rooted in an unspeakable tragedy and the loss of an incredibly talented person, it would be comical…true “Made for TV” stuff.

I wonder if some kind of movie will come out to cover the story of events of this entire ordeal. It probably would be a mainstream hit (as sad as it is).

“that “after about 10 minutes, officers caught up to her and restrained her.””

No TR available in jail then, clearly. Or Travis County Sheriff’s Office are users.

Too soon for mockery?

I had the opposite thought. They had her in sight the whole time and it took 10 mins to catch up to her. They must have called in for help.

Wonder how Colin is doing

Dateline did a whole show on it after she was apprehended.

Fair warning, it prominently featured an interview with a Jeff Spicoli-esque, mid-40s surf bum who was oddly not wearing a shirt the whole time as their chief Costa Rican character witness.

Also, I’m not trying to play the straight man here, but do you all remember how much Mo Wilson was dominating the Lifetime GP before the horrific incident?

I think she was dominating the women’s field with great separation than Keegan is dominating the men’s field. I think she won Sea Otter by 20 minutes or something.

They should name the the women’s lifetime trophy after her or something … with her family’s permission of course.

Couldn’t care less about him…good riddance.

10 minutes of chasing while keeping her in sight sounds like when my pit gets out.

Hopefully that attempt just makes it all worse for her.
