No time gain is worth the self respect lost for wearing that helmet.

My first reaction was to hate it, but the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. I really like the visor design as it looks like it offers a whole lot of visibility. It really looks like a pointier version of the Sweet Protection unit Uno-X uses. From the front I don’t think it looks all that bad.

Looks much better in a riding position than it does standing upright…which is true of a lot of cycling gear

Anything new looks weird to us, change is scary to humans.

If it provides the same crash protection, better aero gains, and is within the rules I like it

Would…

I fully support anything that makes me look more ridiculous in the name performance. I actually give bonus points for anything that flies boldly in the face of cycling tradition.

I mean, if a pro is wearing it to eek out those last marginal gains, that seems like a no-brainer when $ and careers are on the line. A masters athlete wearing something like that with the hope of glory, that’s next level dumb. I’m all about dumb, are they available to the public yet? I’ll rock one for unbound if it’s not too hot.

Rock it for unbound and sit just bolt upright while you do it.

Looks like it takes up less room than a new bike, I’ll take one.

I’d rather be slow than wear that helmet.

As sure as the sun rises, UCI will ban it:

Gotta say in this case I’m not even mad at the UCI; I can’t image that Giro monstrosity would actually work all that well as a helmet. I say make em TT with road helmets.

I think its ridiculous that they also mention the POC Tempor as a potential ban in that article. Its been on the market for more than 10y, first used at the 2012 Olympics…

Form follows function. Aero is king.
If one isn’t willing to do “everything” for gains… are you even trying?

The helmet is seriously bold. And seriously aero. Kudos for the guts.

It’s a TT. It’s an aero helmet. It doesn’t look any goofier than helmets with tails, TT frames, disc wheels, and any of the other technological approaches to performing a TT as fast as possible.

I was less than 10 seconds out of first in two of my last three TTs. If that helmet could make me 10 seconds faster, I’d wear one in a heartbeat.

I think it’s brilliant which means the uci will probably ban it. So many tiny gains to be had in a TT and helmets seem to be one of the areas with a lot of improvement to be found.

How many points for my reumbent?
