Sounds like they have some good ideas but not quite ready for prime time yet.
@Pbase A continuing work in progress is what I’d call it.
Couldn’t resist a yearly subscription 50% off offer from JOIN. So with outdoor season approaching its a better fit than TR.
How are people finding the estimated FTP from JOIN or do you perform power tests?
You should still perform the tests, it is not intended as a replacement. It can serve as a guide on how to pace the tests or when to retest (when estimated FTP is considerably higher or lower than current FTP).
Fairly optimistic
though I guess it needs a good initial value initially which I might not have given it. Actually today it is the same as my wko5 mftp.
How did you get 50% off?
I was a monthly subscriber but cancelled. After a few weeks they normally send an offer to resubscribe.
The latest was annual for 45 euro which is pretty good so jumped on it.
I do the same with Strava. Got 25% offer after a few weeks unsubscribed ![]()
I unsubscribed in January on their recommendation to get the frequency first deduction but I never got an email for 50% off (but I still have a running subscription). I couldn’t resubscribe strava last year due to some technical difficulties, so stayed unsubscribed for a month and also never got an offer: (
I didn’t even realize there WAS an estimated FTP. LOL. Another good opportunity to point out that their UI desperately needs a full rethink.
Yes my last AI FTP was 278 (month ago). I used that as my FTP when I rejoined JOIN and the estimated FTP in JOIN is 282 which would be close enough to what I am expecting in the next AI FTP scheduled for Wed.
Both are probably overstated, I need to man up and do a 20 min test.
The estimated FTP in Join is linked to your join level. If your Join level goes up, your eFTP goes up. Your level will also go up with increased training volume…
I was doing 4x5 minutes vo2max outside but at the end of the first interval, I said to myself FU, just continue for as long as you can 20 minutes at least. After that I just rode for another 3 hours. Intervals.icu gave me a ride eftp of 271W and wko5 277W (though when I look into the future I can see my mFTP rising further to 281W). My join eftp yesterday before starting was 281W. I probably could have continued going hard for a bit more but although it was very nice weather it was also quite windy and sort of hard to control the bike on some of the parts of the circle I was doing and pacing probably wasn’t too good for a proper FTP test but I wasn’t too unhappy (also considering the day before I was throwing up from drinking too much
)
I initially read that as “my last FTP was 278 months ago,” as in 23 years ago. ![]()
Just finished the 14 day trial of Join, was thinking about using to start training for Big Sugar in October. The UI is just too clunky. TR tells me exactly what I need to do every week and I can see my calendar months in advance. I do like that you can transfer Join to Zwift very easily, but otherwise TR is much more polished.
There is no point in JOIN of seeing the calendar much in advance because it will change anyway depending on what you do or don’t do
last AI detection here (7 days ago) was 298. I started Join yesterday, set my FTP to 300, and then saw the estimated FTP in join was 299.
Pretty close if you ask me ![]()
eftp just uses your set ftp with a decay and growth from workouts
Has anyone found a good “workaround” for taking two consecutive days off and riding the remaining 5?
With my current schedule I cannot ride Wednesday and Thursday and therefore put my availability to 0 for those days. JOIN still wants to program 3 days on 1 day off so I end up with an additional off day that I don’t think I need.
My plan at the moment is to add a ride on the “off” day but I don’t want that to take away from any future intensity. Has anyone run into this issue ?
I am pretty consistent, but I just add and remove days (or modify workouts) as needed. Sometimes Join will try to force an offf day or two hard workouts back to back (because I added one), but I just modify as needed and it eventually catches on.
I’ve got an XC race tomorrow and I’m wondering what you guys use as an opener in the library? It did t give me anything on the schedule. Not even a warm up on the day but that I see In the library
