This is really good advice.
So many people posting numbers that don’t work for me personally. Always curious to see others targets, but you really need to figure out what works for you.
After doing so many zone2 rides over the last year, my brain appears to pick up two different points:
- I feel something (heart rate?) and look down at my bike computer and HR is 133-134bpm. My entire life my brain wakes up 1 minute before the alarm goes off, so I dunno what is happening.
- I feel breathing change and its usually in the 138-143bpm range
- my zone2 rides have always been 128-142bpm HR and perhaps an artifact of using Friel zones from the beginning
Would love to know if those feelings are tied to physiological changes like LT1 or VT1 but I’m too lazy to go into a lab and get tested.
Sorry for the digression, going back to Sryke’s point above. Last night I was a little tired and did 2-hours at mid zone2 both power and HR. On a normal night I’d push that to upper zone2. You really need to pay attention to your body, I’m now in the habit of making detailed post-ride notes on how I feel before and during a ride.
