I just can't accept it!

Of course. It’s an annoying limit with most of these studies and I’m not saying it’s a hard and fast rule but just something to keep in mind. Just a hey, maybe doing no hard workouts during base is not necessarily a good idea.

I think this was one of the reasons that TR wanted to blur out future workouts on the plan until the day before I think it was.

I did think about changing the setting to accept all adaptations, but I couldn’t do it.

I need to feel like I am involved in the decission making, accepting this might mean I make the wrong one.

I’m starting to think I’m a bit of an outlier, the impression I’m getting is most of us are accepting most of the adaptation most of the time.

Yes

When I first started using TR I was doing the same, especially with longer Sweetspot and Threshold workouts because I feel like I’m better at those.
Also doing revenge workouts I may have had a hard time with in the past.
I was pulling it off at first but eventually it was catching up to me and I started to see that all I was doing was throwing a monkey wrench in the plan.
I eventually changed the settings to Automatically except adaption and let TR do its thing.
There are still days that I think “why is the system giving X workout, it know that I can do harder’ but I remind myself I’m going to let TR do it’s thing.
Workouts has gone a lot better for me. Slow grind upwards but getting stronger.
Now I feel that I would auto except AIFTP if they had the option but every once in a while I see that there’s still bugs with that system.

I like to see the proposed Adaptations so I feel engaged in the process, but 90% of the time I accept them.

I skipp it sometimes. It depends on how I feel. If it downgrades workouts and I feel great I’ll skip them. But 90% of the time it’s correct and I understand why, so I accept them. It’s just on rare occasions I skip. I have also not followed the recommended change before and then failed the next workout. So I think it knows. It would be helpful if it could tell you the reasoning behind it.

I think an issue for me is I mix in other stuff like weight training and some SkiErgs afor example. You need to make some subjective judgements from time to time. Recently it tried to downgrade FTP for me, which I rejected as the hard workouts I can manage. The long boring endurance ones are another story! Also not always easy to ride outside at this time of year in Northern Hemisphere which plan is suggesting I do.

Maybe try using Train Now and look for a productive workout, if you’re feeling good. TR can’t gauge how you’re feeling, whether your sleep is bad, got a cold etc.

I accept basically all adaptations. I think of the future workouts as placeholders with the overall structure and general progression. I’ve found that AT is pretty good at queuing up a Goldilocks workout for me.

After being sick and off the bike for 3 weeks, I took my FTP decrease and the following workouts have felt right.

I have definitely done this. But yes, I almost always accept them, but I like to see what they are, yes because of interest in the process, but also because it can have implications on where exactly I do the workout.

:laughing: I can relate to this. The 20’ FTP test served this purpose for me a few times. I have a vague recollection (possibly a mis-remembering) of avenging an AI-initiated FTP reduction by bashing out a “stretch” sweetspot workout (possibly Galena), but I can’t find it in my history.

My current favorite “naughty thing” has been to withhold other workouts (runs, strength) from strava (so that they can’t be imported to TR & cause adaptations), then upload them all after I’ve done the workout. :face_with_peeking_eye: Tsk tsk. I could probably achieve the same thing by moving the slider one notch to the more aggressive end, but I haven’t bothered.
