How to measure rest/recovery/readiness?

So my TR plan has 2 days a week empty… I assume these are to allow rest/recovery, but they also mean I can move workout days around or add in extras when desired. So … how do I know if I have rested sufficiently on those days… or how do I know if it is ok to add in another workout?

I have a Fitbit which suggests how ready I am for exercise but I take that with a pinch of salt!

Thanks

If you’ve done too much thr RAG light function will adapt down the next work out or even remove it if you need more rest.

If I do a workout with, say, 70 TSS and during the workout I increase or reduce the bias on Zwift (I’m in ERG mode, so this means I put out more or less than watts than needed), or even end the workout early, does that change the TSS for that workout (once complete & “logged”) and thus tell TR how much work I have done?

Your making it more complicated than it needs to be, listen to your body and rest or ride as you feel fit. If you ride RAG will take care of you and its AI will do the thinking.

I’m brand new to TR, so just curious how it all works!

My experiences with a plan;
If you increase/decrease the watts in a TR workout it does not make much difference in how TR reacts. ( I don’t see future workout changes)
If you end early then it sees that as failure. It will ask why you stopped.
If TR is expecting the ride to be moderate and you rate it hard or all out it will ask why.
These last 2 usually trigger workout changes.

TR does make it pretty simple!

If today is marked as yellow on your calendar, then we recommend resting or riding easy. If it’s red, then we recommend resting. That logic should help you determine how to manage your days off.

Keep in mind, though, if you have a day off between hard workouts and you do a long ride, hard workout, tough strength session, or anything else that’s taxing, the following day when you have a key workout scheduled may turn yellow or red and adapt away that workout.

It’s important to be prudent to some extent and ensure that you’re well rested for your prescribed workouts. Try to avoid stringing together multiple stressful days in a row. :face_with_bags_under_eyes:
