Probably best to use a different adjective there, otherwise I agree
Itâs easy to say the usage numbers are through the roof if every user gets presented with those meaningless texts without asking or any means to disable them.
As for the feedback - Iâd love to see some of this unbiased user feedback and am willing to bet if it exists there are very few athletes among those happy users. More likely itâs analyst feedback, who usually are happy about anything like a puppy - especially if they get paid to say so
You can disable the AI text, just click on it and itâll give you the option.
Fully agree otherwise, I have no idea how anyone can use or engage with something displayed by default on every ride page.
I think that probably depends on your definition of athlete. If you just mean âuser of Stravaâ, it wouldnât surprise me if there are a lot that are impressed by the simple feedback it gives. I think that as power users of athletic devices and software, we forget that we have a bias because weâve used or researched multiple devices and apps and weâve seen it all before and have strong opinions on what adds value and what doesnât, and who does it well and who doesnât. I donât think Strava (or GC or FasCat) does these things to try to impress power users, who are a very small percentage of their user base.
I also think thereâs a lot of bias toward the apps we know and love. There are a lot of people who LOVE Strava that I think would be ecstatic to get a nice âAIâ message congratulating them on getting a Segment KOM. Theyâre probably also users that donât do any post ride analysis of their effort, so âyou did a nice 60 minute ride that was in your tempo zone and had a few above average effortsâ impresses them.
100% this
Weâre measuring everyone using our rule. Just because we understand every aspect of the charts doesnât mean every Strava user understands. As @Pbase said, weâre probably a tiny % of their user base.
Hey, thatâs very funny, I donât want to take credit for posting it in the Jokesthread!
Yeah, I admit I struggled trying to decide where it belonged. I would have sworn there was a Varia Vue thread, but I couldnât find one.
And now Polar joins in

The new normal, I guess
We must SaaS-ify everything! How long until they all move integrations to the paid tier? Maybe add another separate Integration-as-a-Service tier?
We already have SaaS whatâs being discussed is SaaPS
Here we goâŚ
âIn passing, Pemble (Gamin CEO) also dropped a very quiet bombshell. Noting the broad range of features available to users currently, he said, âcertain ones, we will likely reserve for premium offerings.â Itâs the clearest confirmation yet that Garmin plans to introduce future premium features to its lineup that will only be accessible to Garmin Connect+ subscribers.â
I feel like that was a really ambiguous quote, and they did it that way to generate clicks. Did he say they would move current features behind the paywall or did he say new features? I havenât gone and listened to the whole thing to try to find it, so if anyone has, Iâd love to hear the whole thing with the appropriate context.
