General it is then. Is it the worst thing in the world to do a shorter workout on Saturdays? The 1.5 hours I know I have coming up is starting to get less enjoyable. I know there are variant versions. Fine with 60 minutes and even some 75 minutes.
Not a problem. Do what fits into your schedule and life.
The workout you complete is better than the one you skip. ![]()
Is it better to do the full workout even if you have to possibly take a very short break during a rest interval (30 seconds to a minute) or do a shorter version with no stops? Also I went mountain biking yesterday and actually noticed improvement in climbing for the first time. I was able to do some climbs with 2 gears left to hit if I needed but I didn’t. Usually I would wish I had more granny gears to handle the climb but no problems yesterday. Woohoo!
This doesn’t answer your question directly but out of interest I looked at my FTP history over the last 2 years.
I generally also run consistently throughout the year so I never concentrate 100% on cycling but I’ve seen that between my lowest FTP and my highest in that 2 year period there is only a difference of 17% (40w).
After completing SSB-MV1 I have:
- had a 5% increase
- had a 6% decrease
- had a 0% movement
- had a 8% increase
So I guess what I’m trying to say very long winded is don’t be concerned. Just keep training consistently and overtime you will see improvement although if you are coming from a background of having done alot of training before any improvement will most likely be small or hard to come by
Just writing this as a record for myself…I am 27 y.o. and 65kg.

Not sure how I feel about hitting the big 3.0.0, Been stuck between 270/290 for years and I don’t know how I feel about it…
Happy but reluctant to start training at it and burn myself out. Noticed I got sick a lot… January 2023 was the worst I have ever been…
